I got the Moultrie M-80x to scout for deer. My dad needed something really simple to operate, and this camera is simple. The day time photos are clear, but the nigh photos are blurry if there is much movement. The IR flash is excellent. The first 10 feet are whited out with the IR flash, best if used 15-20 feet from trail or food plot.

picture quality isn't the greatest, but for the price I can't expect perfection. I am comparing to a bushnell 8mp camera.

Me and My brother in law both own this same camera. I've only had mine for a few days but he's had his for about a year. He says that his has been swatted by a bear and it is still holding strong. As for me some of the plus' of this camera is that it runs on AA batteries unlike a lot of other trail cams that run on D batteries. This will save you money in the long run. This camera is also a lot smaller than the other ones.

I purchased one of the M80x's after owning a Cuddeback for many years. The range and depth of the night vision IR is second to none. However, if there is moderate to swift movement during the IR picture capture the photo will be blurry. Especially the rack if its a buck, you wont be able to count the points. I first put out the M80x in the beginning of June set on 1 minute delay. I didn't have to change batteries until August. During the colder months of OCT, NOV and DEC I probably had to change the batteries every 4-6 weeks. The mounting system is acceptable but not great. I ended up purchasing 3 more of these cameras after the first one. You cant go wrong for the money with the wide range and depth of the IR. I almost couldnt believe it when I first checked the camera. I recommend putting them on a field, food plots or mineral licks where the deer may stop. Otherwise on a trail or area of high movement I would still go with a Cuddeback.

I received the m80x and started using it great pictures and video with sound. You will have to read manual on modes plot and hybrid. Plot and hybrid use the cd special software plot stalker. files are created with a special file type read by plot stalker. plot stalker will not work on windows vista basic. When you double clic plot stalker icon you will see error message - big red x - componet 'comdlg.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file missing or invalid. Another issue is battery usage I bought new duracells and m80x said I had 227 day left. It seams to using a lot of battery power number of days left our being used fast. Don't set m80x in direct sun light or over 100 degree weather it will damage display. The box is rugged and display function setting are easy to set. I have had the more expensive mountrie cams for over two years. Very good trail cam. Update 11/2/2011 m80x battery Life do not leave battery pack in camera will drain batteries even when turned off.
