1.0 out of 5 stars Bad start to an expensive product
Purchased this unit less than two weeks ago after extensive research on the subject. After only one night in the field, LCD display quit working. There is no question it is a defective product. It really angers me that such an expensive unit should fail in this way. After many, many Amazon purchases I will now, for the first time, try to exchange a defective product...

The Moultrie 6.0 is very easy to setup and use. I highly recommend it. I
have used it several times to video wildlife. Once they're on video, I
can easily connect the 6.0 to my TV and show family and friends what's
out there.
Thanks!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Moultrie Game SPYi60, June 22, 2008
By
This camera easily straps to a tree w/ the fastex buckle. The laser aimer points to where the center of frame will be. The camera triggers fast when an animal walks into the view. The LCD viewer is handy to check if anything has triggered the camera. Not only is the date/time printed, but the temperature and barometric pressure! The resolution of the day light photos are great due to the 6 megapixels. The lens is good for a trailcamera. The black and white infared photos are grainier (as expected). The one complaint I have with the night photography is that the infared has a extremly SLOW shutter speed. I have many blurred animal shots when the subject is moving. The flash version would "freeze" the night subject. Still, the bear, coyote & deer photos I got are great! I have not tried the video clip yet, but look forward to it. I have done wildlife photograghy for 20 years (35mm), but I had to be waiting behind the camera. Now, a digital camera is automatically taking photos for me. Of course, there is no greater thrill than being "right there" when something occurs in the woods and I can photograph it. The trailcamera is the 24/7 wildlife photographers dream. Pick a hot spot for wildlife and set it up and it is amazing what comes by while your at work or sleeping at night.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad start to an expensive product, August 20, 2008

Purchased this unit less than two weeks ago after extensive research on the subject. After only one night in the field, LCD display quit working. There is no question it is a defective product. It really angers me that such an expensive unit should fail in this way. After many, many Amazon purchases I will now, for the first time, try to exchange a defective product. Stay tuned as I will update this review as this event unfolds.

Update 8/21/08: Called C/S at Wing Supply, positive marks for getting right through, no wait. They immediately suggested I phone the Moultrie help desk in case it was something they could fix over the phone. I wasn't too pleased with that, but Wigns did inform me how to return it without having to phone back, which is a plus and they are willing to exchange or refund my money. I'd rate them high for that. Phoned Moultrie right afterwords and although the wait to get through was excessive, the help was quite good. The customer service / technition immediately instructed me to send it to them and they would send back a new one. High praise for Moultrie customer care. I will update once the replacement arrives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moultrie Game Spy I - 60, March 29, 2009
This review is from: Moultrie Game Spy I-60 Infrared Flash Game Camera with Built-In Viewer (Sports)
I receved this camera as a gift at Christmas. I probably would have never bought one for myself. I did, however, have the responsibility of reviewing and purchasing a game camera for a family member 4 years ago. I thought I got the best then but this one killed it (I think it was a cuddleback).
OK where do I start...
My house backs to acres of woods. We have deer, fox, raccoons, skunk, squirrel, owls and assorted birds.
I waited 3 weeks before openning it, maybe feeling intimidated that it would be a pain to set up. It took little time to read the instructions and then I started playing with the camera. I must admit it was so much easier than I thought to set up. So, for ease of setup I would rate it high.
The camera itself is awesome. It takes great day pix and you can take one when it senses and 2 to 3 additional after the initial sensing with time lapse in between. The sensor must be fast because I haven't had the blanks that I had read about when I researched ealier. I had a fox running through that I caught with the camera.
The video is a nice feature too. 15 seconds or 30 seconds. The only catch here is that at night the max is 15 seconds no matter what the setting is set to.
I don't ever use the little viewer. I guess if you are in the field you might want it ... my reccomendation would be carry your laptop with you. It is a little tough to see ... I think. (For me that takes nothing away from this camera)
The pictures are good ... day very clear and vivid. Night black and white (of course) and clear.
The strap that comes with it to go around the tree wasn't big enough for the tree I originally wanted to put it on.

Bottom line. I LOVE this camera!!!

Recommendations: Get the security box and swivel attachment. At minimum so no one takes this great camera.
I have a review for the Moultrie security box which details more of how I mounted the camera.

5.0 out of 5 stars First trail camera, September 14, 2009

This review is from: Moultrie Game Spy I-60 Infrared Flash Game Camera with Built-In Viewer (Sports)
I purchased this item and have been EXTREMELY happy with the product. It is my first trail camera, so I really don't have anything to compare this to except for friends that have other camera's. So far so good. I have captured EXCELLENT daytime photos and very good night photos. I know the one downfall a lot of people talked about when I was initially reading these reviews was the difficulty of getting to the SD memory card. I also experienced this. I purchased(for 99 cents) a pair of flat end tweezers at my local grocery store. PROBLEM SOLVED!!! Very easy to pop the card out and put it back in with the tweezers. I also bought the security box, so I leave the tweezers right in the box with the camera! Works like a charm! I've had mine out for over two weeks now with LOT'S of great pictures and batteries still show 99% life. Enjoy your camera, guys and gals!!!!

The camera worked fine and was easy to set up. The instructions for setup was not very good, but if you have had any experience with other cameras it will be quite easy. The belt that secures the camera to the tree has a plastic connector which is not very sturdy. It came apart when I put pressure on it to secure the camera to a tree. The first camera I was sent was defective and I lost a week waiting for a replacement to arrive. Amazon.com sent me a replacement for the defective one or I would have had to wait forever for a Moultrie repair.

The Moultrie I-60 works great & good pictures, the only two things, that needs improving,is the user manual, needs more detailed info for first time users & the start up time, takes to long before you can do any selecting, other wise it's a great camara,I would buy it again......

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent photos, easy to use camera, August 4, 2008
This review is from: Moultrie Game Spy I-60 Infrared Flash Game Camera with Built-In Viewer (Sports)
This is a fine game camera with excellent battery life, and extremely good IR range and images. The color daytime images are a bit contrasty but this would not be a replacement for my Canon DSLR gear anyway.

This review does not apply to this product directly, but MOULTRIE in general. I purchased a MOULTRIE game camera that was non-operational out of the box. I contacted MOUTRIE after a 50 minute wait time. They sent a RA to return the camera. Instead of replacing the camera they insisted on reparing it even though it was just purchased and never used. The quoted repair time was 3-4 weeks. I did receive an email stating it was repaired and in shipping. That was 8 days ago. I have tried to contact MOULTRIE by email several times to find out why it has not shipped. There was no reply to the emails. I tried by phone 4 or 5 times, but everytime there was a 45-60 minute wait time. Either they do not have the personnel to handle their product or there product have a very poor reliability. Either way, the customer suffers. Sorry I even bought the thing!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The price on this is dropping, September 4, 2009
This has very good quality pictures. They did move to more plastic parts over my older IR 4.0 Moultire. They are now coming out with wireless internet trail cams so this may be the highest SD type they will develop as they move to push the internet/remote trail cams. While the cost of the internet trail cam service plans are high now I think the internet capability will slowly start to kill off these SD trail cams much the same way SD cards killed of 35mm film trail cams. But for now, this is a good camera and if you search around, you can find is deeply discounted from the MSRP they put up here (which is a bit dated anyway).
