4.0 out of 5 stars a fun and enjoyable indie game
This game is an awesome addition to the collection of anyone who enjoys classics like medieval 2 total war or oblivion. not sure about the problems the other reviewers had about the game. I have the full game on windows 7 64 bit, and it works absolutely fine (better than fine actually). You wont find the top notch graphics here, or the best role-playing experience...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not as good as original
I own the original Mount & Blade and tried this Warband edition. This one is OK- just a bit more of the same. I own the original Mount & Blade and tried this Warband edition. This one is OK- just a bit more of the same. The graphics are a bit better and fighting from a horse is MUCH more difficult in this version. I like that they added a life bar for your horse (there wasn't one in the original), added some more interactions with characters in the game, and added another kingdom to the game. What I don't like is that once you lose a round in a tournament, you're out- in the original, as long as you knocked a few other people out of a tournament, you would stay a part of the tournament. I also don't like fighting from a horse being more difficult because it's already a challenge. All in all, I'll stick with the original Mount & Blade.
They also added the ability to find a wife, but I didn't have the patience to develop the game to that point.
As far as other people having problems with loading the game on Windows 7, I think that's User error, not the game. It loaded the first time on my Windows 7 laptop with no problems. Also, the game DOES say that it's a demo version. I think that review is a ID 10 T error.

4.0 out of 5 stars a fun and enjoyable indie game, June 21, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

This game is an awesome addition to the collection of anyone who enjoys classics like medieval 2 total war or oblivion. not sure about the problems the other reviewers had about the game. I have the full game on windows 7 64 bit, and it works absolutely fine (better than fine actually). You wont find the top notch graphics here, or the best role-playing experience probably, but you will find an extremely addictive open world style medieval experience. The combat I personally prefer to any other first person medieval game Ive ever played, and the horse to horse combat is what oblivion should have been. If you have a desire to work your way from a nobody to the king of a faction by conquest and diplomacy, buy this game. Another side note, the game is incredibly easy to mod, and has a vibrant community and fan base.

4.0 out of 5 stars install problems easy fix, November 26, 2010

This game wouldn't install on my Windows 7 x64 at first either. So I looked the specific error code up online (this will usually solve 95% of problems). In my case it was an NSIS error and their website listed a simple work around that solved the issue. Took less than two minutes.

I'm still learning this game but so far the graphics are great and I'm running a relatively low end laptop (Turion II P540, 4 gigs RAM, ATI Radeon HD4250). If I run into problems I'll come back and update this review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game that just is not well known, August 26, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

Myself and all of my friends have spent endless hours playing this open sandbox! The mounted combat is very well done and exciting! Raise an army, pillage to pay and feed them, seige a castle. Now you own a castle!! Take over cities and buy buildings to bring in constant income! Trading, politics, war and even romantic ties all while leveling up your own character and picking his traits to improve in!

This game has it all, and riding at full speed to make an archer kobob with your lance never gets old!

It a great open world game in medieval times where armies fight each other using melee weapons such as swords and axes and using range weapons such as bows and crossbows.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great demo for a great game, June 18, 2011
This review is from: Mount & Blade: Warband Demo [Download] (Software Download)
Unlike other demos that have tons of limits/are so tightly scripted that they have no replay value, this demo lets you do anything you want. This IS the game except it disables after playing for 30 days of in game time. Of course, it's hard to do a lot of epic stuff in that little time so get the game!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hands down, Best Game Ever for me so far!, January 15, 2011

So I got a bang up ToshLaptop, 6GB/1GB dedicated Sys/Video(NVid) RAM, Awesome System! Windows 7 was great at first, then I increased game graphics and after instability I came back down to usable optimal greatness! Game goes on so long and is so good that playing for so long, sometimes I start losing it and have to stop. I have played non-stop for 48 hours at a time now about 5 times, I quit that though. I have almost finished taking over entire country for 1st time, only a few Nords left to tackle. Gotta keep your vassels (Lords) happy or they will defect on you, no more than -95 rating is recommended or account them corrupt and lose them, all the more for the rest, but you do need them to help you for group effort to overcome the other factions. I have played several video games and this is hands down the best, esp. if I have had sleep and in good mood. I first did tasks to help the big cities, found a cause to fight for a leige that was banished. She disgusted me after giving my 1st Castle Storming to another so I then became a Leader myself and took over her Swadia. I am a guy but play as a woman because I thought she would look great, not the case really and now it is harder but challenging as a woman so next game will be as a man and I can marry .... look out ladies! *S* I have yet to find out if I can create a peaceful nation yet? I hope so, I like to fight but would like peace for the villagers, they are always getting the rough end of things and I feel sorry for them, they help me lots because I have always been kind to them. The big cities too, they each allowed me to buy a business because I helped them and engineered their trust and got really rich for that. You will need money!!! With a business in each town you get rich really fast and can lose out fast during wars as they fight you AND take your money. That about covers it, have a blast. Can't go wrong, if free download does not run, you don't send in $25 so you can play on from the free 7 levels they allow you. If you got/get a system that can run it, for $25 you can be entertained until you grow tired of the game and I see that happening to me somewhere around 2020 at my being 70 years of age, hahahah.

2.0 out of 5 stars Impossibly difficult, December 8, 2010
This review is from: Mount & Blade: Warband Demo [Download] (Software Download)
Maybe I don't get it, and I really wanted to, but I could not get my character to hit anything from horseback. I really wanted to like this game. It seemed like a pretty interesting concept, but what's the point if you can't even execute one of the deadliest (and coolest) attack maneuvers? Pitty.

Wow. This game can be likened to that of a late 90s creation using the lowest quality graphics known to current day standards. This game should have been ported for low end smart phones rather than the PC. The startup process was horrid as you have to brute your way through a series of lame paragraphs of reading and then make a life path selection accordingly. When selecting your character, be satisfied with what you see on screen already, because there is not much for customization. This is just the demo, but if is anything like the full game, I suggest you find something else.
