New Title -- still the real deal!, May 13, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Mountain Biking Moab Pocket Guide 2nd edition: 42 of the Area's Greatest Off-Road Bicycle Rides (Paperback)
I found this in a Moab Bike shop.. Rim Cyclery or something like that.. anyway.. I had to buy it! It was the one I thought I ordered on Amazon before I got to Moab... but apparently the publisher just released a second edition and put the old edition's title on another book!! This edition.. the "pocket guide" is the one you want if you're gonna actually get on a bike and ride. It gives a good flavor description of the ride and the directions were spot-on... The profiles were good too. I really liked the maps.. they allowed good navigation. Not overwhelming .. just right.. This guy obviously put his heart and soul into this book. Obviously this author's heart and soul reside on Moab's trails!

Buy this book!, March 22, 2005
This review is from: Mountain Biking Moab Pocket Guide 2nd edition: 42 of the Area's Greatest Off-Road Bicycle Rides (Paperback)
This book has everything you need to get to Moab, pick a trail that is right for you and have a great time. There are overall technical ratings for each trail, individual technical ratings for each part of every trail, elevation maps, detailed overhead maps, instructions for particularly troublesome areas...it is all here. Someone said that it would not fit in a Camelbak, but it easily fits in one of the smaller pockets of my MULE. When I'm there next week, it will definitely not be left back at camp, but will be with me on every mile of slickrock that I ride. Do not buy Lee Bridgers' book! This one is less expensive, of higher quality and you can take it with you wherever you go.

Moab mtn biking...really, March 8, 2005
This review is from: Mountain Biking Moab Pocket Guide 2nd edition: 42 of the Area's Greatest Off-Road Bicycle Rides (Paperback)
This book caught my attention. The trail descriptions, maps, and difficulty ratings really provide a pretty good estimation of what to expect on each trail. (Which really comes in handy when matching up technical ability and endurance to particular trails.) Believe me, some of the trails mentioned are extremely challenging... and you don't want to get stuck on a trail that you aren't ready to ride. Please follow the advice given on the trails listed when it comes to your endurance/technical ability. This could mean the difference between injuring yourself or hoofing it back to the trailhead on foot. If you have never ridden in or around Moab, this is a must-have book. Even as someone who has ridden in the area many times, I still use this to select which trail or trails I want to ride depending on the amount of time I have each day. My advice: buy this book, read it, stuff it in your bag, and head to Moab. While it's too large to easily fit in a camelback, read through it at night while in the hotel planning out the next day's adventures.
