Experienced bikers, Stuart and Jensen have written an excellent introductory book on the sport of mountain biking. Starting with choosing the right bike and covering topics like hill climbing and descent, the great trails and how to find them, and mountain bike racing, this well-written book covers all the questions a beginner is likely to have. The chapter on basic maintenance is especially good, providing clear instructions and helpful hints to basic bike repair and upkeep. Although this book is aimed at women by title, everything here-with the exception of the introduction-will prove useful for any beginning mountain bike rider. A good addition to most public libraries.

The authors do a super job of explaining the very basics of mountain biking for beginners---everything from bike parts to riding slang. I've improved and gained confidence by putting into practice some of their tips on technique. They also do a good job of instructing on the basics of bike maintenance and safety. I highly recommend this book for anyone just getting started.
