More About the Author

W. Brondt Kamffer is South African by birth and a US immigrant (along with the rest of his family). He now resides in southern California where he lectures English composition at the California State University of Long Beach.

He became a writer only after he became an avid reader during his senior year of high school, right after he saw The Fellowship of the Ring film. That was his first encounter with fantasy, and he has been hooked ever since. Aside from a period of about two years when he focused on writing historical fiction, he has never wanted to write anything else. Even the poetry he wrote in creative writing classes as an undergrad was heavily influenced by his fantasy reading.

In Eidylon: Birth of an Empire (Serial novel, Episode 2): Twins, three hundred years have passed since refugees were led by the dark god, Eida, across the known edge of the world, and to a new land. The refugees have settled at the edge of the great mountain where the dark god's body lies buried. The time has come for the descendants of these foreigners to live closer to the mountain. . .

In Episode 2, the operative word is "betrayal," because the author forwards his plot in this story through repeated actions of betrayal, presumably from the influence of the dark god. From a change in ruler ship of a kingdom, to the naming of the new city on the mountain, to a resolution to population issues, to the untimely demise of the new king, each time the human follower is led astray from his true nature by the dark god into committing an atrocity that furthers Eida's mysterious purposes.

Brondt Kamffer delights in playing the role of the dark god, and in using the helpless human pawns in dastardly but brilliant manners. Eidylon: Birth of an Empire is proving to be a dark but ultimately entertaining epic fantasy tale.
