Fourteen years ago a terrified young Maggie Grace fled into the wilderness of the Wyoming mountains, where she has lived alone, fighting for survival, ever since. Until she finds cowboy Garret Daines lying unconscious in a blizzard.

Snowbound in Maggie's cabin, sharing the only bed with this beautiful, wild woman, brings Garret's body--and guarded heart--pulsing back to life.

Garret is the only man ever to show Maggie any kindness, and the walls around her heart begin to crumble. But this wildcat won't let herself be easily tamed....

More About the Author

Stacey Kayne grew up at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California. She spent her summers camping in the high country and adventure seeking with her brothers. Though her passion for writing came as a shock after buying her first computer in the summer of 2001, it's not a wonder her first novels were borne from daydreams about fictional characters and their wild escapades through those rugged mountains.

An American history college course was a major catalyst in her writing aspirations. Steeped in facts and images of the American West, her mind began its usual wandering. With a computer at her disposal, she decided to type out her daydreams--halfway through her history course, Bride of Shadow Canyon was created.

While writing her first western, Stacey discovered that an adventurous setting with ever-changing untamed scenery is a driving force of her imagination. Rugged, dusty, wild, resilient--there's such an elemental connection between the setting and the characters. Her mind is constantly searching for ways to submerge new characters in the beauty and grandeur of the American West.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't Put It Down!!! Excellent Read!!!, February 21, 2010

This book was excellent!! It was the first Stacey Kayne book that I've come across so I didn't really know what to expect, but this was far beyond anything I'd have imagined. I have since purchased the other two books in the "Wild" series and loved them just as much!! I plan on reading Kayne's other series as well. "Mountain Wild" kept me intrigued from beginning to end with all the elements a romance reader is looking for....I highly recommend it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great compelling romantic story!, February 17, 2010

I really loved this book, my first by Kayne. It was a new author for me but the story was really great. Very likable hero and heroine; I was very invested in the story and there were enough twists that no only did it make the story realistic but enjoyable because it wasn't your predictable romance. Also the villian, was very bad...but even he had a story to him. You still hate him but its very interesting to see a romance novel from their perspective. All of the elements really elevated the novel into something really great. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stacey Kayne delivers!, September 11, 2009
This review is from: Mountain Wild (Harlequin Historical) (Mass Market Paperback)
I couldn't wait for this one to come out -- Stacey Kayne is a favorite author, and this series is a great one. An independent, capable heroine and solidly likable male lead, both with history. Stacey Kayne gives you both sides of the story, and I love that -- knowing what they're both thinking about each other. A smart story with great characters and plenty of old west action. And the horses all have names -- love that! I recommend the rest of the "Mountain Wild" series, too. Anything by Stacey Kayne is gonna be good!
