Product Description

Warm up chilly mornings with the Mountain House Breakfast Skillet wrap. Packed with sausage, potatoes, onions and peppers, this egg-based scramble is hearty enough as a meal on its own, but is even more delicious on a bagel or tortilla wrap. Don't forget the hot sauce!

I wanted to give this item 5 stars, but really couldn't. It is very, very convenient to use, which is why I wanted to try it, for camping. It is convenient to bring and to make.
But it really lacks in flavor. Even though it has 'peppers' in it, the whole thing is bland. I shook the can as directed to make sure everything was well distributed. And it says it has sausage in it, but there is the flavor of smokey bacon throughout! So I had brought along some extra freeze dried peppers and some freeze dried onions, the second time I tried using the MH Breakfast skillet I added extra peppers and the onions. It improved the flavor some. Definetely need salt and pepper too.
I actually took ketchup and honey mustard, mixed it together, and spread it along the top of the breakfast skillet to add flavor. With all that being said, rolled in a burrito shell, it did give us a filling breakfast. Not great, but good. Convenience was great. So, although the flavor was not all I wanted it to be, alone, I can certainly add spices etc. If I didn't have to do that, I would have given it a 5 star. Would order again for camping.

ADDED: I wanted to add, some info I left out. Freeze dried eggs compared to dehydrated (which I use and don't mind too much themselves when mixed with peppers onions cheese etc) but Freeze dried eggs are WAY BETTER! The flavor is close to fresh eggs. Dehydrated eggs have an 'already cooked' flavor. Freeze dried eggs do not.

UPDATE: I have been experimenting with the skillet breakfast. It's also sold in smaller packaging to be used with a tortilla shell...anyway, to start with anytime I am going to use this I START by adding, onion, garlic, mixed peppers, salt, pepper(after it's rehydrated), and a little crushed red pepper flakes.

Took it to the Grand Canyon for 4 day backpacking. Right before i left i opened it and put in separate zip lock bags. THis way I could leave the can behind.
It's tasted great. I recommend you bring flour Tortillas and hot sauce. It was a hit with everyone. I could have eaten this for every meal.

350 calories per serving with 13g of protein. This for breakfast plus 2 Millennium Bars per day equals 1150 calories. If you consume that combo you'll have 90% of your daily protein, 98% of your fat, 80% of your carbs, and 80% of your sugar for the day, not to mention the vitamins in the Millennium bars. Each breakfast skillet can has 10 servings. The bars come as a 24 pk. So for one person you can have at least 10 - 12 days supply of food at the ready when purchased together. The can is much larger than I thought a 1.5 lb can of food would be. It was very tasty although the eggs stayed a little too wet for my taste. I suggest adding less water to begin and check to see if you want to put the full 1 cup in at the end. Other than that it is a great deal and I will be buying many many more for the future. Breakfast Skillet has a lot of good flavor. It's way better than the plain eggs and bacon in a can. This has pork sausage, hashbrowns, red and green peppers, onions, and eggs in it.

Just make sure you always have your can opener!

Actually tastes good for an MRE... Mountain House has the best tasting MREs - by far.. I keep this & 1 other #10 can on hand to have a breakfast meal w/ my Just In Case Buckets. I plan on turning them over right around 2020, and every 10 yrs after. Amazon has some of the best prices anywhere for Mountain House foods.

I've tried many different freeze dried foods over the years and I keep coming back to Mountain House (MH) products. The breakfast skillet is one of my favorites in particular. It is actually something I would eat for breakfast regularly, it's that good. My go-to favorites are the beef stew, beef stroganoff, breakfast skillet, and raspberry crumble for dessert. If you're curious but don't want to commit to a whole can just buy one of the samplers http://www.amazon.com/Mountain-House-Freeze-Dried-Assortments/dp/B00K5T3O0Y/ref=pd_sim_sg_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=0K7SJTAQCQYRAQ8MHRZM and see what you like. I just received my #10 cans of the stroganoff and breakfast skillet which have expiration dates of Jan and Apr 2039 respectively. Although these have a 25yr shelf-life I'd bet they'd actually last much longer than that. Can't recommend MH enough!

I think Mountain House pretty much has the dried/dehydrated food down pretty well. It's not like eating out or even my cooking, but it's just fine for emergencies. At that time I bet no one particularly cares if something isn't gourmet. I am surprised at the quality though, and recommend Mountain House over some MRE's.

I bought this with intentions of storing it for future emergency use. After reviewing different brands, I selected Mountain House because most preferred the quality/taste over other brands.
