I've worned this 1/2 dozen times and at first I was concerned that they would be too stiff, but I was pleasantly surprised by their softness. Certainly not as soft as an old pair of jeans, but not scratchy either. I like to wear them on my motorcycle and working around the yard. Have not worn them on horseback yet, but will. I would have rather had them in a 36 length because on the bike or I am sure that on horseback they may be on the short side. Pants that are just right standing up wind up being too short when you bend your knees and you want them to cover your boots! Consider offering 36" lengths!

I was excited about these pants having seen them in stores and having heard good things about them. I like heavy duty cotton pants for everything except hiking, backpacking/higher intensity level activities (because of the cotton.) i am about 5' 9" and 160 lbs. I couldn't find my size in stores. Im about a 31 waist and in these pants i am a 30 inseam, usually am closer to a 32. So i guessed based on other reviews and went with a 31x30. when the pants arrived, i was initially disappointed by the feel of the material. I had checked them out in stores and thought i remembered them to be a more heavy duty fabric, much like some of my Carhartts. The fabric was much softer and felt lighter. I actually prefer the rough, tough feel of a less soft pant (back to the Carhartt comparison). Nevertheless, they were still a heavier material than most pants. The size was just right for me, length and waist was good, but the pants felt overly baggy. I like a loose fitting pant for moving around and climbing and such, but these are very baggy around the seat area. The crotch hangs very low as well. I am still on the fence about returning these, as the quality of material is good, if not a bit less that i expected. I feel that if i were to wash and dry them a few times, they might become a bit less loose and baggy.

Love these pants! They look great and feel great only thing I don't like is they aren't made in the US, but is anything these days? And as a side note the utility pocket on the side is basically useless due to it having a sort of cover flap, my iPhone with no case on it fits in it but does not come out very easily, which I suppose is good if you're out climbing or hiking but that's not what I wear these pants for.

The crotch tore the second time worn. No cuts or scratches, however these pants ripped when I stepped onto a two foot tall ledge. Once torn, the fabric continued to rip from the base of the crotch all the way to the belt line. 32 in waist and 30 in length.

Killer pants, awesome company. I bought 31"/32" and when I say they were too big, I mean by roughly 3 sizes. I'm sure these were mislabeled. Easily 34"/34" if not bigger. I'm 6'1" and held them up to my chest and they hit the floor. I own 3 other pair of MK and they are all sized differently. Excellent pants. I can't say enough about the style and durability, but try them on first!

nice, durable pants. sizing is a bit inconsistent though. I ordered 34x36, but when they arrived the waist fit comfortably but the inseam was too long. Returned them and bought a 34x34 (which i had to pay $10 more for, because they don't have an exchange option, you have to actually get a refund on first purchase and do a second new purchase, and the price had gone up). The second pair fit on the inseam but the waist was almost too tight. And this was a week later and I was at the same body weight both times. Basically 2 pairs of "34" waist were not actually same waist size.

I purchased the Mountain Khakis Men's Alpine Utility Pants as an alternative to cargo pants. I especially liked the comfort that the gusseted crotch provided. However, I have been disappointed by the quality and utility of this item. Aside from the gusseted crotch the best feature is that the pants hold their color. Unfortunately, the pants are expensive, the material quickly wears and the pockets are of limited use do to their design. The leg utility pocket is very small with restricted access limiting it to small items and the cut is very straight making the three hip pockets virtually useless. I can't even fit my keys, phone and inhaler in separate pockets and sit down. The material has shown wear around the seams at a rapid rate. Kuhl is the only brand I can compare the rapid wear too. I haven't even experienced material damage like this from Walmart pants. This wear manifested after light use and delicate laundering with rack drying. Given my observations even the sale price I paid was too high for the limited quality and utility of these pants. I wanted these pants for a number of years before I risked the price to purchase them. I am disappointed. I purchased Berne sanded duck pants that cost far less than these pants that show no wear at all, have bigger pockets, and have a more generous fit but lack the crotch gusset. Additionally, I could've purchased several pairs of Riggs Ranger pants for the the cost of these Mountain Khakis. The Riggs pants like the Berne pants are cheaper, more durable, and more utilitarian. At least from a distance the Mountain Khakis look nice.
