I'm writing this as a rebuttal to the first review that complains of various issues. I really hate when someone has unrealistic expectations for a "game".
I own this and played it with my family over the Christmas holiday. I had one uncle that seemed to have the same expectations of the first reviewer and was disappointed that it was not more like "real" skiing. Well, considering they were standing in my mother's family room; they had not driven a few hours North of where I am to get to Tahoe, there was no snow, they were not in a ski suit and had no skis on their feet ... I'd say it was a reasonably good facsimile of the experience. It irritates me when people don't understand the concept of "pretend". I won't bore you with what all that the game offers, you can easily look that up, what I will tell you is that it's fun and everyone but the wannabe ski critic enjoyed it. It's pretty basic, but does make good use of the balance board. There is a learning curve to shifting your weight left and right, as the tendency is to turn your upper body and/or lean; neither of which will make you turn. Once you get that down it's just a matter of practice, practice, practice and trying to improve your last time. The downhill skiing, snowboarding and the bobsledding is the funnest. The bobsledding was actually a lot of fun to sit on the board and rock left and right trying to find the fastest line down the mountain. Everything works as it should and if you want something fun that will give you a simulated ski experience, has multiple game play options and you can actually burn a calorie or 2 in the process, then I say pick this one up and have some fun. If you are expecting to get a true ski experience in your living room ... I believe there is medication for that!

This game is one of the best winter sport games on the market. The curling is hard to master but is by far the least exciting game included. Bobsledding is lifelike as you have to try to remain in the groove on the course. Sledding and tubing are fun and the skiing and snow boarding are challenging. I love that it uses the balance board for control on everything but curling.

This isn't a bad little game to add variety to what you can do with your balance board. The skiing is more difficult than what you get in the wii fit games and it takes more practice to get it down. I especially like the tubing and the bobsledding which kind of let you...excercise your bottom, haha. Tell you what - you can actally feel it the next day if you keep at it long enough. I dont know if it was intended for that, but for me it works ;)
The only thing I wish it had was the ability to use your Wii charachter like the Wii fit and sports resort games do. Other than that, I've enjoyed this game.

When I bought this game I wanted to utilize the balance board more, and that's what I got. Most of the games involve the balance board, but don't expect to get a workout. The background commentary can be annoying, but you can turn them down or off. The curling game plays well once a person figures out how to get the stones into play.

Maybe we would have liked it better if we hadn't bought the Wii fit game at the same time. It just couldn't compare to the Wii fit game. It is well made as are all Wii products, but doesn't have a lot of variety.

Good arcade/decent graphics winter sports mini games except BB stiff controls,

I tried "water sports" & thought it was horrible in practically every respect (check my review). since this game got so many good reviews, I bit the bullet & got used at gamestp. I returned it 3 days ago, so excuse me that I didn't have time to play it fully nor give as extensive review as I normally do.
menu/options: I thought the graphics were one of the best for a 3rd party mini game collection besides rayman raving rabbids series which was great to see. the menu choices leave much to be desired & I made sure the avatar I chose I changed the name/looks/clothes before starting as I read you were stuck w/that avatar to unlock the other games like a profile on the original wii fit to unlock the other games. there are several paths/runs to unlock for beginner, pro, expert, etc. for the several sports like skiing, slalom, snowboarding, tubing, sledding, etc. (in career you only have beginner open). controls: I did not play this at all w/wii remote control only, but balance board/wii mote (lift for jumps) only which is my preferred way of playing. I had trouble getting the controls to respond. in skiing, it was very sensitive to fast/jerky side to side movements (I tend to over-steer/turn until I get used to it.) when I did sledding, tubing, snowboarding, I would lean more slowly as I had a wider & straighter path (even though snowboarding has gates as well) for better control. while leaning fwd/back worked (announcer would proclaim I was moving like I was taking in the scenery & not realizing it was a race), going to the left/right was as fast as a mack truck even if I leaned on only ONE leg. it worked fine if I jerked to left/right, but not a better/controlled lean. this made tubing impossible with all the round pinball bumpers crowding the path which needed good control & barely get it to respond if I wanted to go a little to the side of one & in between others. all & all a fun game/great ideas, but with the issues I had, it was unnecessarily frustrating. I don't have balance board issues w/wii fit, wii fit plus, rayman raving rabbids tv party, we ski, we ski & snowboard, etc. so I'm not sure if I got a bad disc or I'm more picky about needing jerky movements or none of the other reviewers used the balance board. I would love to hear from anyone who tried this with the BB & their results.

A 6 and 4 year old are using this game and enjoy it quite a bit. The curling is difficult to accurately control.

This game is decent for the price, but offers nothing spectacular or that will be fun to play for hours. Although it offers 6 sports, the motions necessary (steering using the Wiimote) to play them are very similar in all but two of them -- the biathlon and curling. The biathlon is fun, as it adds a little variety to the skiing (you have to move your Wiimote left and right quickly to gain speed). Curling is fun as well, though as has been noted in other reviews, the AI is terrible. Also, the hog line is pretty far close to the ring, and so setting up guards is difficult. Setting up guards is pointless anyway, because the computer lets you remove them from play immediately (that's disallowed in actual curling). Still, it is still an enjoyable game to play. Finally, one thing that I would like to see that's missing is some sort of snocross event. Every event except curling is a time trial, and so there's no direct racing competition with your friends.
I don't own a Wii balance board, so I don't know how things would be different if using that to play this game.

I usually trust Amazon.com's review, however this was a notable exception. Unappealing graphics, repetitive and boring gameplay.. Can not recommend.
