Book Description

"Whisper Mountain is the lair of the beast," say the frightened mountain elves. "Beware the Shadow Demon, for it will hunt you down and eat you alive."

Hal and his friends weren't looking for another adventure, but this was a mission they couldn't ignore.

Whisper Mountain gets its name from the frequent cries of ghosts echoing down its slopes, the souls of victims who have run afoul of the demon. Who in their right mind would venture into the deserted elfin temple? But, according to a crazy old soothsayer, the mountain is the "key to everything."

Miss Simone agrees that the mountain is worth investigating, but has more immediate problems to deal with: a squad of soldiers from Hal's old world has been spotted coming through the 'hole' in the labyrinth. Will this lead to a friendly integration of virus survivors, or an industrialized, technologically advanced human invasion that threatens the land forever?

The shapeshifters set off to the mountain, hoping all this talk of demons and ghosts is just superstitious nonsense. What they find there surprises everybody...

5.0 out of 5 stars Mountain of Whispers September 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book after reading the previous books in the series because they were so good. I am now on the 4th book of the series and will have to purchase the 5th book. This is a very good teen series but I happen to be a senior citizen and have thoroughly enjoyed the series. I definitely recommend the series for all ages.

This was a very satisfying book to read as the author tied up a bunch of strands from the first story. We learnt more about the virus, we heard about survivors on earth, we had 'first contact'. In short the book gave me pay off for getting this far and opened up possibilities for more adventures without any nasty cliffhangers which I personally detest. The characters all continued to grow and and mature and at just the right pace I think. There were new creatures and some rollicking adventures. Ne thing about this series is its pace - there is always something going on. I'm looking forward to the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Twist to the Series February 5, 2014
By Dr. P
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This story had a great plot and Robinson tried the previous story into it very well. If the readers have been following the story line, you will notice how well the author is developing the main characters and their relationships to the members of the new world in which they live.
This one has a great story line and keeps the reader pulled into the story because of who created the virus and how the virus was distributed throughout the earth. I loved it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Really Great Read April 23, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm an adult & loved this series of novels, firstly because it's so well written & secondly because each book is a great read. I'd recommend this to anyone, young or old who enjoy a good yarn. Because they are stories without sex & only very marginal violence, they need to have good story lines to keep the attention of the reader, & they do all that. So that's why I've given it 5 stars.

I am reading this series with my 3rd grade son. We are both very excited to read the next chapter each night. It has been a great bonding experience, and the books are written so well that they are interesting to both my 3rd grade son and to me as a 40+ year old woman. Clearly written with great cliff hangers & plot twists.
