Slow down the pace of modern life and turn to the world of adventures & scavenger hunting with "Great Smoky Mountains National Park Scavenger Hike Adventures and Mountain Journal". This book was so much fun for our family; finding things we would never have known to look for or might not have noticed, hiking trails we might not have taken. Clear & concise; allowing the hiker to know what they were in for & how much time to allow for. It really gave us something to do/look for between each marker on the trail...making the trail so much more enjoyable. Witty & clever, even adults will enjoy going on these adventures!

5.0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL!!!!, April 20, 2009
This review is from: Great Smoky Mountains National Park Scavenger Hike Adventures and Mountain Journal (Spiral-bound)
I purchased this book at the last minute before vacationing in the Smokey Mountains - LOVE IT! We were able to show our kids items on the hike that either we would not have known what we were looking at - or we would not have noticed without this book!!

The trails are generally pretty well marked - but if you have a chance to talk to a park ranger before going on some of the extreme hikes ask what landmarks may have changed or you may spend more time hiking in the wrong direction than you want to! LOL - our six mile hike day turned into a 13 mile hike day!

Overall a great experience and I would recommend this book to hikers of any age/experience level who want to offer themselves and/or their kids more than just a pretty view!
