Our earth is full of healing powers, but in today's modern world, we tend to overlook what Mother Nature has provides us, and choose unnatural remedies to ailments that can often be treated naturally. I was somewhat familiar with alternative medicine, and even dabbled in it myself, but I was not well educated on the subject. I found this book to be a great tool in helping me to understand how certain substances found in nature, certain exercises, and therapies can actually have healing powers. After reading this book, I now have confidence in trying more natural healing, and will use this book as a reference in the future. I especially liked how the author noted the cautions one must take with certain remedies. Since Mountains and Rivers is easy to understand, it is an excellent choice to start your journey into the world of alternative medicine. I highly recommend this book, if you are interested in alternative medicine, or you are looking for a useful reference to alternative medicine.

I found Mountains and Rivers to be an excellent resource that nicely complimented my required class textbook reading. The writing was interesting and presented clearly in a way that non medical type people can easily understand. I now keep my copy with other medical references; the pages are well worn.
