This is a heavy duty bag. I got it to carry relatively heavy stuff and it has held up well. The fabric is heavy, the zipper is heavy and it has compression straps to relive stress from the zipper. I have also been very happy with my Mountainsmith backpack I got a few years ago that I use when I collect rock samples.

HOWEVER...If all you want is a duffle bag to carry clothes, I suggest you check out the Outdoor Products Mountain Duffle. It is not as heavy weight but you get many more cubic inches for the buck, it has 2 handy generous end compartments AND it has a "D" shaped zipper that opens the main compartment more fully than the straight zipper on this bag.

For my purposes I need a heavy bag so I give this bag 5 stars because it fits my needs. If you don't plan on caring heavy things consider the Outdoor Products bag for a cheaper, more utilitarian bag.

I hauled this thing to Montana on the back of my Harley with a double wide sleeping bag, 10'x12' foot print dome tent and pairs of backpacking type air mattresses and pillows. This thing held it all and held together. I am very happy with the bag and may even buy some of the smaller ones for other uses. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it would have been nice to have compression straps going the other direction as well. I needed it wrapped as tight as possible for the bike but a bungee cord took care of that. It also kept the rain off of the contents for the few miles I got rained on. Overall, I think it is a great bag for the price.

While the bag is made of a durable material, after only using it for traveling several times one of the zippers came off. Unfortunately this jeopardizes the integrity of the bag itself. How can I trust the second zipper to work when needed? What if this zipper breaks like the first one while at the airport?

I attempted to fix it myself by reattaching it, but the metal snapped. Nice bag, great size and durable, but I feel that poor hardware was used for the zippers. This could have been a defect in my bag, but since this has happened I can't trust the bag to stay closed while traveling, which is what I need.

I cannot comment on customer service since this bag was purchased about eight months ago and I do not know if it is still under warranty. I will have to look into what, if any warranties the company has.

Call me a snob but I generally prefer the "higher end" brands because they mostly use better materials and construction. This bag uses a heavy nylon fabric which is great for almost all travel purposes (I also own the more bombproof North Face expedition duffles which ARE indestructable but probably overkill for most trips). The #10 YKK 2 way zipper (big tooth zipper like on sleeping bags) is an often overlooked asset, rugged and easier to zip (like while reaching into the overhead storage bins). The compression straps on top not only tighten up the bag when it is not full but also are great to make sure you don't lose your jacket in the hour after clearing airport security and before your flight - just crank it down while hitting the bathroom, snackbar, and duty free shops, and using the shoulder strap, you will be hands free. Also appreciate the haul loops on both ends (some bags curiously have only one) and the padded velcro wrap for the top handles. An internal zippered pocket the entire length of one side of the bag in bright yellow ripstop nylon is handy for stashing tickets, important papers, ties etc. Given all these features and the bonus of meeting airline carry on baggage requirements, I highly recommend this bag. Be sure to shop around as online prices vary.

My favorite duffel bag of all my travel items. Durable. Good looking. Spacious. AND, hard to miss on the luggage conveyor belt.

First off this bag lives up to the name XXL, it is huge. You can easily put over a weeks worth of clothes in here with room to spare. I really like the compression straps to tighten everything down once the bag us packed. There is a big pocket inside and a small one on the outside. The bag seems like it will hold up to years of travel. One note of caution you will have to check this on a plane it's way to big to carry on.

This bag never seems to run out of space. I bought the Extra Large and it seems to have magical properties when stuffing gear into it. The outside isn't as tough as the North Face Expedition Bag; however, it is also 1/3 the price of TNF Expedition bag. The outside is still pretty durable and I have not had any problems with it ripping with multiple trips through the airport luggage handling.

Hi,

Anyone else do the math? XXL has 8976 cu.in. XL 7200 cu.in. converts to XXL 147 liters to XL 117 liters a 30 liter difference. In other words a a large day packs worth of space.

I have not yet purchased one but thought this important enough to post. Not fair to lower the rating and I will report back upon receiving the bag.
