First, I have owned 6 mountainsmith bags and have been pleased with them all. Mountainsmith is known for excellent quality, functionality and durability. One of my favorite things is their continual addition of interior and organizational pockets,as well as, strap padding.

About this bag:

pros:
- separate padded computer pocket holds a 15' Dell, also a good for storing files, papers, magazines, as well
- Velcro slip on back to put on rolling luggage
- good quality zippers and sturdy, rip-stop fabric
- main compartment good size, with zippered pocket for calculator, pens, etc
- yellow inner lining for easy access of contents
- front compartment has great storage, pen holders, pockets, key holder, padded sunglasses pocket, small zippered mesh pocket
- water bottle holder and velco pocket on sides
- strong adjustable strap with good lading
- briefcase handles

cons
- water bottle holder only big enough for skinny aluminum and store bought water bottles
- side pocket not big enough for a power brick
- no straps to expand and contract bag to accomodate less or more stuff
- did not have any color options other than grey


Messangerbags are too big and do not have enough internal pockets for me. Smaller bags did not fit my computer regardless of claims to do so. Laptop bags were all too small for carrying books, etc with my computer.

The mountain smith bag is a hybrid messangerbag and laptop briefcase. I use it for both and have been really happy with it. It looks professional, but stylish and practical for students, etc.

I highly recommend this product.

I travel frequently throughout the year and have been on the lookout for an all-in-one bag. I was on a trip when I found a retail outlet that had the Mountainsmith Shoulder Network bag but I wasn't able to purchase it that day. I found it online here on Amazon and I can honestly say it's the best bag I've ever used. It has quite a few compartments leaving me plenty of space for work files, my laptop, a portable DVD player, pens and all accessories I need when I travel. The outside is very durable as well and cleans very easily. I probably should have bought two because by the time this one wears out they may not make it anymore!
