And it is really light and ergonomic design.
YoungMin Baek
It doesn't need more pockets, because they actually reduce internal storage space, and if you know how to pack, then everything will easily fit in securely.
Cody Niebuhr
It was comfortably snug and all the adjustments were at the right places.

THE GOOD...
Tough nylon, welded zippers, highly water resistant, great organization, excellent padding, awesome ventilation, hydration bladder pocket, deep water bottle side pockets (No dropped bottles while biking!), yellow interior helps you see deep inside the bag in low lighting (Thoughtful!), zipper for main compartment allows you to zip almost to bottom (convenient!), exterior compartment pocket perfect for iPad with case, exterior sections great for gym shoes, skates, boxing gear, yoga mat, and (don't laugh) laundry. Very flexible carry options, and looks good.

THE BAD...
Suspension system designed for maximum airflow/breath-ability but pushes load pretty far away from your back. Not good. You want heavy loads as close to your spine as possible to stay balanced and prevent injury. (Think about holding a milk carton to your chest for 5 mins vs straight out in front of you for 5 mins...) The hip padding makes up for this somewhat, but in my opinion for loads upwards of 30 lbs just take out the wire-frame and the bag will straighten a bit making the load feel lighter.

THE UGLY...
This bag is comfy up to 30lbs for me. Great weekend stuffer for clothes, personal items, electronic gadgets --excellent suitcase replacement. Not for super heavy loads or week-long excursions into the wild. Suspension system leaves more to be desired. Not for someone with lower back problems. For under $100 a good buy, and as a 20-30lb combo day pack+gym bag (Def!) or decent weekender. Haven't used this in hot weather but may give in more stars in 90F+...

Peace+Love,
Brooklyn, NY

I bought this pack at another place other than Amazon, but I wanted to write a review to clear up some misinfomation that another reviewer posted. The suspension on the backpack is curved for a very specific reason, but the other reviewer obviously isn't an avid hiker or knows anything about hiking packs. The suspension is absolutely perfect because it shifts the weight from higher up on your back to just above your hips, like hiking packs are supposed to do, and it is actually better for your lower back. Also, if you are actually hiking (going up an incline) the arch will help maintain the weight in a mostly vertical fashion, transferring most of the weight to your hips, and away from your back.

This pack is perfect for what it was designed to do. It doesn't need more pockets, because they actually reduce internal storage space, and if you know how to pack, then everything will easily fit in securely.

I just wanted to clear this information up for anyone else looking at this bag, because I almost didn't buy it because of the reviews on here, but they obviously didn't know what they were talking about.

If you want a pack to look cool that you take to school, this isn't the pack for you, you will hate it. But if you are solely going to use this back for hiking, what it was designed for, then you should love it.

Hope I brought some clarity to future shoppers.
-Cody

I was scheduled to do a 4-day trip with my pregnant wife and almost-2-year old kid, booked on a Low Cost Airline.
Wanted to travel light and minimize our checked-in baggage coz I had a suitcase full of my kid's stuff (milk bottles, his clothes, and other baby-essential stuff).. So I decided to stuff the Phantom 40 (essentially a 45L if you have the Large size like I do) with four days' worth of my wife and I's clothes. Filled it to the brim. All 9.8 kilos of it.
At the airport, I had it on me the whole time we were on the Check-in counter-- and it was a looooong line for a looong time-- and it didn't even feel heavy at all! After check-in, I was also running after my kid and that was still easy with the pack on!
Surprisingly, while going through the process of checking in up until boarding the plane, it still looked small enough that the attendants didn't even look twice and allowed it as carry-on luggage. (Warning: may vary from airline to airline)
Only drawback is it doesn't fit the plane's overhead compartment if you put it vertically.. it has to be laid sideways horizontally, but I don't mind as long as it's in there. (Size of compartment may vary too.)
Got off the airplane and on the airport, I slung it on again, and i never felt uneasy. It was comfortably snug and all the adjustments were at the right places. Having it on me the whole time we were at the destination airport too was a breeze.
I also loved how the main compartment was easy to access coz I had to get my jacket and I didn't have a hard time doing that.
From the airport, we had quite a bit of a walk going to the place we were staying at. It was on me the whole time and it never was a bother to me. I was even carrying my kid at times and I felt it even kept me well balanced!

Ok I probably didn't need a pack this big yet. But I'm 6'5 and so one with a long frame seemed a good idea. Plus, I'm in Texas right now and the open back allowing air through is just great.

What it could benefit from is more organization in the interior pockets. It just needs a few smaller open pockets and zippers inside to put it over the top.

Otherwise everything else has been well thought out. This is definitely a full weekender if not for longer hikes.

Too large for a day trip.
