I purchased this set for my grand daughter (3 1/2 yrs old)as she loves to listen to books on tape etc. However, do not make the mistake that I did -- this is a CD only so you need to purchase the books separately. She loves the tales and follows along in the book - the author is the narrator and has a wonderfully expressive voice.

Just what I was looking for. Well-told, simple stories for my littles to listen to at nap time.

My mom bought me the cassette tape of Mouse Tales when I was little and I used to fall asleep to it every night. Arnold Lobel's voice is so soothing and the stories are simple and sweet. When I found out my cherished childhood tape was now on CD, I just had to buy it for my 13 month old son! Now he listens to it during nap times and bedtime, and it works like a charm! :)

It's a wonderful collection, my son loves it. He loves listening to CD and follow along with the book. He loves the stories and they are easy for him to follow. This is how he learn to read at the age of 4. Highly recomend it for the beginer readers.

My three year old recently received an audio CD from a fast food chain, so I played it for her. She enjoyed it very much, problem was, it was pretty short. So I visited Amazon.com to find full length audio CDs. She loves this one. The author of the text also reads the stories. It begins with a father mouse telling one story per each of his seven mouse children as they get ready for bed. The stories are short enough to hold her attention and she really has to focus to hear the story being told and what happens as the next one starts. This is a great disc to take in the car, especially if you allow the kids to control the car radio. It is a great break from kiddie tunes!

Our grandchildren really enjoy listening to this CD. It's great that the author is the reader. The pace is calming, and they like to listen to it at bedtime. And they are happy to listen to the same stories, over and over again. It gives our voices a rest.

On this cd, the author, Arnold Lobel, reads his own stories. He provides different voices for each character and you can get the intended emphasis for each line. It was fun to listen to, but I still prefer to read it aloud to children myself. It's fun to do the voices too.

I haven't seen these in YEARS! My little sister picked up the Mouse Tales book and cassette at the bookmobile when we were little kids. She never really payed attention to it. So i put it on one night when I couldn't sleep. Needless to say it became so soothing that I'd listened to it until the tape broke. I had to fork over the money for it. But i will NEVER forget how soothing this is. I am going to send this to my niece and nephew in SC they will adore it. And for old times sake, I will even get a copy for me. THANK YOU AMAZON! If you have young children that love happy little stories, they will love you for getting this for them. :)
I love the story about the mouse who took the bath with the water cleaning the whole town. Sooo cute! The music is charming too.

The kids LOVE this CD as it accompanies the books Mouse Soup and Mouse Tales.

It is another very good bedtime story and the reading is quite pleasure. My son loves it!
I have bought the picture book as well.
