4.0 out of 5 stars Wow... the Memories, December 16, 2006
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars

I admit... it was the ColecoVision version of this game that I have. That's right, I still have it. This is an old game from the early 80's out on the Atari 2600 and ColecoVision. It was a terrific game at the time - I had fun playing it, even though I was maybe 3 or 4 years old.

The best way I can describe this game is that it was like Pac-Man. Basically, you're a mouse running around getting little bits of (I think it was cheese), and once you cleared the board of the cheese, while avoiding the mean cats, of course, you made it to another level where the cats were just a bit faster until finally, they were so fast you couldn't win the game, as most of these games tended to be. But you did have a way to fight back - if you got a big block of cheese, you would turn into a dog, and then you could 'eat' the cats, which I thought was absolutely hysterical (remember, I was maybe 3 or 4).

By today's standards, this game is a dinosaur. The graphics were very basic and it's from the era when very few games had actual endings. But when this game came out, it was amazing and I'll always remember it and ColecoVision as the systems that introduced me to video-games... I remember how 'amazing' Super Mario Brothers looked with the NES first came out. lol

3.0 out of 5 stars It's okay..., November 20, 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mouse Trap (Atari 2600) (Video Game)
It kind of reminds me of PAC-MAN. Running in a tunnel with giant face of a cat. It's a great kids game. But kind of redundant for an adult. So unless you loved this as child, or if it's for a child, I don't really recommend it. They put out another game like this called ALIEN released by FOX games for the Atari 2600 about the movie.

-Thanks

4.0 out of 5 stars Used to play this all the time!, June 18, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mouse Trap (Atari 2600) (Video Game)
My best friend had the ColecoVision system and this is one of the games we played the most. I was never too good at Pac-Man but this game was very similar, though it was much easier to beat and outrun the cat. You could even trick the cat and trap it in a cube (with the doors that open/close) indefinitely so you could get the board cleared at your own pace. We'd trap the cat anytime we needed a break in play...not many games can do that! I also remember that the ColecoVision version had custom keypad inserts that slide into the control pad, that way you always knew which buttons did what at a glance, very good idea.
