This review is from: Moussorgsky - Pictures at an Exhibition: The Masterworks Library (Boosey & Hawkes Masterworks Library) (Paperback)
Congratulations to Boosey and Hawkes for here republishing a staple of the orchestral repertoire (Maurice Ravel did an outstanding job of arranging Musórgskiy's piano original, though I wish he had included the "Promenade" immediately prior to "The Market-Place at Limoges"), with beautiful layout and a scholarly quality in terms of editing out mistakes in the previous edition. I'm also pleased that they mention where Ravel (as well as the Rímskiy-Kórsakov piano-edition) differs from Musórgskiy's original version. Definitely a MUST for any score library and for any real music-lover!!!
Most warmly recommended, greater than 100%!!!

Moussorgsky's most famous work, "Pictures at an Exhibition" (orch. by Maurice Ravel) is available is this very nice edition from the Boosey & Hawkes Masterworks Library. This work has been one of the most performed orchestral works by American symphony orchestras over the past few years and is a major piece in the repertoire. This is considered to be the definitive edition of this great piece and comes highly recommended.Mussorgsky: Pictures at an ExhibitionPictures at an Exhibition
