I use a number of products to protect my gums and ordered this mouthwash just to diversify and catch that one product that is going to protect my gums into old age. My gums are somewhat receded but were already tight and healthy due to previous care, before using Alka-Thym, so I don't know if the Alka-Thym is contributing yet more gum health or not--it does feel good on them though, and astringent--but I do LOVE the TASTE of this mouthwash and will never be without it.
No one can say who will like the taste of pine needles and who will not. But if you are one of those that do, you will love this product. Note that the pine needle taste is just part of the whole flavor mix and I do not think it is overpowering. To quote an old advertisement, it does "wake up your mouth" in the morning. I live on the edge of a forest and have a pine tree next to my hammock. I sometimes break pine needles between my fingers just for the scent, while dreamily lounging in the summer sun. The taste of Alka-Thym in the morning takes me right back outside into nature as the flavoring is just like the smell of the needles. I once read that pregnant women should not drink pine-needle tea. I don't know if that carries over to mouthwash ingredients. Do your research or just hold off as with so many other things during a pregnancy. I think it's worth the cost of a bottle just to see if you will be hooked on it, like I was.
