The Game, Memorable for Season 1,

I saw Star Trek: Deep Space Nine every week, when they came out, commercials and all. This is one of those episodes that sticks out in my mind. It's very clever, very sci-fi, alien, and you have no idea what's going on till the end. The only complaint is that they didn't save this episode for later in the series. I would have loved to see Worf sing "Alamarain, count to four, Alamarain, then three more." It also has nothing to do with the overall story arc. 4.0/5 stars. ~Keep On Trekkin

This was a fun episode with lots of suspense and intrigue,

I loved this episode. Yes, it was different, and didn't involve any significant story arcs. But that's OK. It was a diversion, sheer escapist fun. I thought it was a clever concept, and I enjoyed the strangeness and drama of the game (Alamarain!) It was suspenseful. It reminded me a bit of Gamesters of Triskelion from the Original Series. In fact, I think most incarnations of Trek have had an episode like this just for fun. Bashir's screaming like a girl, Odo's violation of Starfleet protocol to save his fellow officers, and especially Quark's groveling to save the lives of his station mates - whom he clearly cares for - were all significant character development pieces. I thought the aliens were kind of stupid-looking in appearance at first, but they grew on me as they played the game. The sets in this episode were visually intriguing, and I liked the camaraderie of the four officers as they banded together to survive - again, it reminded me of Classic Trek. And you've got to love the silliness and embarrassment of the usually poised Sisko and Kira having to play hopscotch! Nicely done!

Cube meets The Matrix [but with a G rating],

Star Trek + Cube + The Matrix = "Move Along Home."
Many DS9 episodes are much better than this one, but those are 6-star episodes! Some people think this episode had goofy/lame aspects, but I thought it was rather compelling, unique, and unpredictable. Watch it. You'll probably like it. Also watch Cube! (1997 film).

I love DS9 but this episode was painful to watch. For every gem of a series there are a couple episode that aren't at the same caliber and this is one of them. Skipping it won't make you miss out on anything at all.
