THE first blues/jass artist I've liked, December 6, 2001

This review is from: Move Me (Audio CD)
To be honest with you , I'm not into blues , or jazz , but after I heard screaming jay hawkins in the movie , STRANGER THAN PARADISE , I could not wait untill the end to see who the artist of the great song , YOU PUT A SPELL ON ME , was performed by .
NO artists can get away with the kind of raw vocal style he uses , he's screaming in some parts , but instead of being harsh , or annoying , It just adds to the originality of it . His voice is perfect for the style . This is really beautiful music . The thing that grabbed me at first, was the strikingly catchy melodies he makes with his sax, they are like no other . They really make the song . It makes the background rift perfectly enjoyable . You'll want to listen to it over and over, no matter what mood you stumble upon. "this is jiving music"

In Fact, the Song is ...I GOT A SPELL ON YOU....the cover of the CD is a scream...I didnot at all like any of the recordings.
