4.0 out of 5 stars Raw
Thorogoods raw guitar sound and ample emotion on this CD make it one worth buying. It sets the tone for things that should have come but never seemed to break out on later albums. 2.0 out of 5 stars This DSD is not well done
George Thorogood's slide guitar playin' ROCKS! The quality of this remastered SACD does not. The fidelity is so-so and fluctuates, and there's anomalies. I thought that maybe that was the condition of the master tapes, but when I bought this album on vinyl it was perfect!

Thorogoods raw guitar sound and ample emotion on this CD make it one worth buying. It sets the tone for things that should have come but never seemed to break out on later albums. If you buy one Thorogood album, this should be the one. A staple of any blues or rock collection. Bouncing back and forth between the hard rocking (Move it on Over/who do you love) to the mournfull (The Sky is Crying) to the emotional (I'm Just Your Good Thing). This album runs the ladder of emotions up and down.

4.0 out of 5 stars My First and Favorite George Thorogood Recording, August 30, 2007
By
This review is from: Move It on Over (Audio CD)
I first heard this disk on vinyl when my college roommate pulled it out from his stack of twelve records.

I immediately loved George's flash and in-your-face playing style. After all these years I still do.

This disc has one of George's best track lists, including "Who Do You Love?" (popularized by many commercials--Sam Adams beer the most recent); George's signature Rock & Roll version of Hank Williams' (Senior) Country and Western classic 'Move it on Over'; the story-with-a-moral 'Cocaine Blues'; and another George favorite, 'Baby, Let's Set a Date'.

This is also one of the better-recorded Thorogood recordings and is enthusiastically recommended for newbies and oldies alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Taking Rock Back To Its Roots, October 3, 2008
This review is from: Move It on Over (Audio CD)
Along with his self-titled debut album, George Thorogood's second one, MOVE IT ON OVER, helped to bring rock & roll back to its roots. "Move It On Over" and "Who Do You Love?" got all the airplay on rock radio, but even better was a cover of Chuck Berry's "It Wasn't Me", which really rocked harder than anything this side of Ted Nugent. If you buy this album and the first one, you're off to a good start at getting to know George Thorogood.

5.0 out of 5 stars His best album!, September 7, 2009

This review is from: Move It on Over (Audio CD)
I had "Move It On Over" and "Better Than The Rest" on cassette tape long before "Bad To The Bone" came out. Those three albums were rock solid! Not one single "throw-away", partly because they were all standards except for the lone original "Bad To The Bone". He had the guitar playing talent, the "two-stroke, air-cooled" vocal chords and the good sense to pick such good covers that nobody cared if he wrote them or not. Not since Joe Cocker, has an artist "owned" sombody elses songs like George! What a coincidence that his first self-penned song went on to be his signature hit. GET THIS ALBUM. P.S. How do we get Rounder Records to release "Better Then The Rest" on CD?

This review is from: Move It on Over (Audio CD)
well this was certainly no sophmore slump for george thorogood,in fact he expands upon his first album and rocks even harder tracks like who do you love, cocaine blues, move it on over all cook and when he starts on that slide doing elmore james cover "hawaiian boogie and sky is crying" i cant help but dance.basically if you like rock you must own this, its just good honest raw rock and blues and in the words of george "we got the good time music and the bo diddley beat" now tell me who do you love ?

Thorogood is a blues/rock n roll master and this album is one of his best! Awesome songs, insane guitar work and of course lonesome George.

5.0 out of 5 stars It wasn't me, September 5, 2008

I was in college when this was released on vinyl and bought it right away.

While 'Move it on over' seemed to get all the radio play, 'It wasn't me' became our theme song in the dorm that year.

George is still touring and if you get the chance to see him you should, he is still doing great shows (I got to see him a few years back for the first time live)!

This is the Classic Thorogood release that brought rock back to its roots when it was so sorely needed! Raw energy and an unabashed singing style that is just so fun to sing along with.

Turn it up and enjoy!
