About the Author

Bob Klein began studying Eastern philosophy, healing and martial arts in 1966. He received his Tai-chi-Chuan teaching certificate from Grandmaster William C. C. Chen in 1975 and began his "Long Island School of Tai-chi-Chuan" in Sound Beach, where he has been teaching ever since.

He has also apprenticed with natural healers from other cultures such as Celtic and Native American and was taught Hebrew philosophy from an early age.

Mr. Klein was a teacher of zoology from 1970 to 1990, presenting ecological programs in many schools throughout the Northeast. He also was one of the early promoters of captive breeding of rare animals and maintains a breeding collection of several species of reptiles to this day.

He was attracted to Tai-chi-Chuan because it is based on animal movements.

He is also the author of "Movements of Power" and has produced 60 instructional videos on Tai-chi and related health, healing and martial arts subjects. Mr. Klein is also the head of a system of chi-gung which he translates at "Zookinesis" (animal exercises).

More About the Author

Bob Klein's career began aa a zoologist, researching animal behavior in the jungles of Central America. At the same time, he studied the healing systems of ancient cultures with traditional teachers from those cultures. After studying Tai-chi, chi-gung and massage for many years and receiving his Tai-chi teaching certificate from Grandmaster William C. C. Chen in 1975, Mr. Klein devoted all of his time to teaching these subjects. He wrote the books, "Movements of Magic - the Spirit of Tai-chi-Chuan" and "Movements of Power - Ancient Secrets of Unleashing Instinctual Vitality". In 2009, Mr. Klein wrote the adventure nove. "The Doubting Snake", portraying the efforts of the Indians of Central America to preserve their way of life and their forests in the face of encroachment of the modern world. This book allows the reader to experience the jungle through the eyes of its inhabitants.
Bob Klein is now the head of one particular system of chi-gung healing exercises called, "Zookinesis" (animal exercises). He teaches these exercises as well as Tai-chi on over 25 instructional DVD's under the "Artistic Video" label.
Early in his career, Mr. Klein produced a series of educational programs for schools in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area called, "The Animal Man". He brought a small zoo of exotic animals to schools, disussing their behavior, evolution and conservation and emphasized the need to preserve wildlife habitat. He now lives on Long Island and teaches Tai-chi and Zookinesis and does massage at his home in Sound Beach. Bob also teaches Zookinesis chair exercises for seniors at local senior centers and nursing homes. He teaches advanced courses for other Tai-chi teachers at several workshops around the country.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insight and foundation for tai chi study, May 10, 2008
This review is from: Movements of Magic: The Spirit of Tai-chi-Chuan (Paperback)
I have read many many tai chi books-this is one that adds something special. Insights and a path to follow in studying this ever unfolding art. Bob Klein has found a way to provide a literary journey for the beginner or the advanced student which will grow their practice. This is my second copy of this wonderful book as I have worn out the first over years of reading and revisiting. Highly reccomended- Enjoy!
