I just received my Battle Alien figure, and I have to say that I am very impressed with the quality and details- this is my first McFarlane toy, though I'm happy to say that it DEFINITELY won't be the last! I had no trouble whatsoever with getting this figure to stand, and I didn't have to use the tail to balance it. The only thing I would have liked is for the knees to bend- it would have increased the range of poses for this figure. If you're a collector, or have a child who loves action figures, or are just a big fan, I highly recommend this toy! I am also getting the Warrior Alien from Aliens, as well as the original Alien figure from the first movie. Also getting an Alien Queen based on the movie Aliens- I am SO looking forward to having her- out of all of them, she is AWESOME! Hope this helps!

The other Alien from this series, Battle Alien has little to differentiate it from the Grid Alien, save for the fact that it does not have the grid wound on its head, and its mouth is open with the inner-jaw showing (though it cannot pop out). Just like the Grid Alien, this figure is virtually identicaly to the Resurrection Alien, save for the fact it is anatomically more like the xenomorphs from Alien and Aliens. If you were only going to pick one or the other, I would recommend the Grid Alien over this one, simply because the Grid Alien is more distinct with its grid wound, plus it has a stand with pegs that help it stand quite easily. This figure, unless you have invested in the figure stands from Spawn.com, falls over quite alot. You can prop it up against the 'facehugger sacrifice' accessory it comes with or balance it on the tail to make it stand, but overall I would recommend the Grid Alien. Overall both figures are quite good. For the purposes of collecting, get both. If you want only one or the other, the choice is up to you. This is a collector's piece, not a toy to be played with...use caution with it as McFarlane figures are prone to randomly falling apart, as I've discovered with virtually every McFarlane figure I've ever owned.

BEGIN COMPANY TRANSMISSION X0431.2A:I am at a loss to describe the figure I received from McFarlane Toys' Weyland-Yutani JV---it's a scale model of what the Company assures me is a Battle Alien, but there are some evolutionary---well, *anomalies* is the best word---that are inexplicable by my fellow researchers. It's a solid figure, without a doubt, and has the heft and striking level of detail that McFarlane usually brings to these projects. With that said, the Battle Alien disturbs me and my colleagues. For instance, why is the cranial carapace opaque and far smaller than that of the Alien Xenomorpah "Warrior" drone reported by ore miners from the freighter Nostromo? At the same time, the dorsal spines are larger and more chaotic in fashion, while the claws are larger and the legs lack the ancillary split that so very much resembles the hind leg of a dog. Our researchers here are at a loss to explain these variations. Could the helpless host that gives birth to these monsters explain these striking differences in the beast's physiognomy? More disturbing is the accompanying model of the mummified human sacrificial host. We have been led to believe by Colonial Marine reports (particularly from the Hadley's Hope LV-426 incident) that the alien "facehugger" drops inert from the face of its prey once insemination is complete; and yet this model, blessed by the seal of the Managing Director of Weyland-Yutani's Xenomorph Research Division, suggests that the "facehugger" alien retains its death-grip even after life has fled. This is bleak and disturbing. We must collate more data on this species, which is doubtless some form of mutation on the basic "Warrior" alien. In the meantime, its "bendy" tail, longer than most, is fun to tweak and bend. I highly recommend this scale model to other Company researchers and ore-freighter pilots. END TRANSMISSION

This has been my first figure in the Alien Quadrilogy and I have been a fan for quite a while. The Xenomorph has nice poseability and I think it's really cool. It comes with a ritually sacrificed, facehuggered, human-which also has good detail(chest cavity from chestburster). I do have three complaints though: I wish the Xenomorph had bending knees, I wish the Xenomorph's inner-jaw would pop out (when I looked at the picture I thought it did), and I wish it came with a base (so it wouldn't keep falling over). But, overall, I am happy with it :)
