Great Value, easy to use,
By Big Jim "starbird3000" (Europe) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Movie Edit Pro 14 Plus [OLD VERSION] (CD-ROM)
Compared to other solutions that I have used before (Pinnacle, Ulead), Movie Edit Pro delivers much more stabilty and more functions. First, I took me some time to understand the workflows, but after that it was simply joy. For example: You have 99 tracks, other have 3 or 4. You never need 99 tracks, but you need sometimes 5 or 6 for titles, effects, some noice, music.....and you can use any track for all kind of medias, also pictures. The effects are all realtime and non destructive....
Pros: - you need 2 hours to understand the principle, after that VERY easy to use - great deep in functionality, you can build your own effects, create pro looking DVDs... - youtube upload is fun - cheap price for high quality - after all I tried BEST VALUE Cons: - user interface is different than other video applications - some German words in translation Summary: This product is a deal. After I tried Pinnacle and Sony Movies Studio, this is the best choice. I am totally happy with the results and the product works very stable. Concerning DVD burning I had no problems and my player was able to playback all DVDs I made.

Incredible Program and User interface but CAUTION on .mts files!,

This review is from: Movie Edit Pro 14 Plus [OLD VERSION] (CD-ROM)
I think I am addicted to having all the available video editing software applications on the market, as I now have used Adobe Premier Elements 7, Pinnacle Studio Plus 12, Corel VideoStudio X2...and now MagixEdit Pro 14!
I must say that I am VERY impressed with the Magix user interface, layout, etc... Magix Edit Pro 14 is one of the few programs that has been able to recognize and handle all of the different .mp4 files from the various cameras I use...Samsung's NV24HD camera for some reason has a particularly nasty implementation of it's .mp4 that until today only Pinnacle Studio could handle. Magix 14 handled it just fine, so that is a big plus...you do however have to go to the HELP menu and select "add functionality" and follow steps to add the MPEG-4 codec. I love this program, and I would immediately give it 5 stars if it only handled my .mts files from my Canon HF10 better. You can import them in their regular .mts format but the program screeches to a halt and makes it impossible to edit or do much of anything. Magix will ask you if you want to convert the .mts file to be able to edit better, I tested this option but it takes a very long time to convert even the smallest of .mts files. Besides, I am guessing the resolution/quality, etc...is lost somewhere in that conversion process. For my high def .mts files I am sticking with Adobe Premier Elements 7 that works flawlessly in all situations with the format. If Magix could do a better job with the .mts AVCHD format I would use it full time for all of my projects, no doubt. it is that cool. if you're not shooting AVCHD video in the .mts format I say buy Magix, hands down. IMPORTANT UPDATE: Let me clarify that I am using a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop with a 1.6GHZ Celeron processor and 4GB or ram running Vista. Not a new machine by any stretch I know...but Adobe Premier Elements 7, historically a very memory intensive application, handles my AVCHD / .mts files flawlessly. See my other reviews for that review as well as several other reviews on more video editing programs. It is very possible that when I get a newer computer Magix will handle my avchd .mts formats just fine, but not now.

If you have a lifetime to create a movie this one is for you.,
This review is from: Movie Edit Pro 14 Plus [OLD VERSION] (CD-ROM)
Have new HD camcorder producing AVCHD files. To import these into a movie is like watching grass grow. I have a fairly good computer 3.0 Ghz CPU and decent video card and memory. I did a 10 minutes video at a birthday party in say 10 short clips. Just to load two clips took 30 minutes. I could probably finish the 10 minute movie by midnight, if I wanted to stay up that long. I do not suggest you buy this product unless your are young and don't have to work, so you have plenty of time to make your movie. Very, very disapointed I wasted this much money.
