Great poster, great movie..., December 24, 2011

Although this is a review of the Movie Poster for the Shane Acker film "9" it can't help but be about the film as well. Knowing the art director on the film, Christophe Vacher, I knew the film would be visually exciting, but the characters and the story itself were the source of this excitement. My wife and I went to a seminar by the director, in which he discussed the production, and we saw preview scenes. Seeing the finished project (produced by Tim Burton) in a theater completed the experience.
This poster, as all movie one-sheets should, gives you a feel for the imagination and the scale ("9" carries an automobile lamp on a pole) of this story. The "stitchpunk being" 9, the last to be designed to survive a war to end all wars, finds the others that were made before him, and you can see in this poster the desolation of that war. Their fight for survival, as they encounter threat after threat, is amazing.
The poster was delivered rolled, and perfect.
