Beautiful artwork - impossible to see date from a distance,

This calendar, that I asked for as a Christmas gift, contains spectacular reproductions of vintage movies and is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, the dates are almost impossible to see from any distance at all. I've tried it in my home and in my office but unless you're right on top of it, you can't see the dates. I'm sure the font was chosen for its' retro/deco look - they're not only small but "chunky" as well. If that's not challenging enough, the dates in red, one of the most difficult colors for the eye to decipher. I love the variety and artwork available in calendars today but it's still something I hang so I can see the date!
