Anybody for a Movie Tune?, November 24, 2009

Record producer Paolo Piagiarelli, hardly a household name, and Royce Campbell have teamed up with a very capable alto sax Phil Woods to create this movie classic music compilation. The results are terrific. Songs from Mancini, and Rota highlight this collection. Royce has given us something very enjoyable to listen to since we all know the titles included. Others on the issue include: Phil Woods with his drum-trio that also includes Bob Bowen on bass and Ron Free on drums. Even though Phil battles emphysema and had to sit out a couple of tracks, his presence is known from his energetic effort while dealing with a breathing disease of a serious nature. Good buy! Good listening! Good jazz choice!
