The list author says: "While this is by no means a complete list, and one likely to have more movies from the 80's than the 90's and also missing some of the greates movies from those decades, but while not completely full of family movies, there are a few action movies here presented, this list should help to serve as a launching point into forays seraching for lost favorites and oldies but goodies you've only ever heard about. Did I mention I'm not linking to bluray discs, and in some cases to Widescreen versions? I think it also should be noted that new titles will be added as I think of them. And to be clear, I'm only listing versions of movies that are in stock on Amazon. Other version can be tracked down if desired.
And it so happens that I've seen and vividly remember each and every title on this list. I even own a few, myself."
"Alas, poor Alex Winter. Keanu Reeves went on to become Neo and Constantine, and what did you get? You direct live action Ben 10 movies. Life's not fair sometimes. Still, at least you were, for the briefest of moments, Bill S. Preston, Esquire."
"Ah, what can I say about The Great Outdoors? Giant steaks, garbage can-raiding racoons, a bald-headed bear, and an old dude who survives getting struck by lightning almost 70 times over the course of his life! There's all of that and so much more to make this one a sure-fire member of any list including movies from the 80's."
"I never really thought golf could be anything resembling entertaining until I saw this movie the first time. I still don't think particularly highly of it, but better of it than I would have had I never seen it. And Adam Sandler gets punked out by Bob Barker!"
"John Lithgow was in this movie, and, uh, what's her name from Sex and the City...? Cynthia Nixon! And would you believe that this movie and I are the same age? I'm also contemporary with the Challenger explosion and the '85 Bears."
"I know, this movie was lame in comparison to the first one, and it didn't even have Keanu Reeves! But there are people who actually like this movie, and there's one lulzy moment in which Willem Dafoe runs like a girl."
"This is one of my favorite John Candy movies of all time. This, and Summer Rental, and The Great Outdoors. Fans of John Candy might also look for such titles as Who's Harry Crumb?, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, Wagons East!, and maybe even Canadian Bacon."
