this is not the typical "opera" style with voices thing one might expect from Mantler. This is pure instrumental jazz featuring some of Larry Coryell's most vibrant and creative work. In fact, all players, including Mantler, give strong performances within a crisp, taut structure. If you are a fan of Zappa's Hot Rats (as I am), this collection should appeal to you, with its driving beats and exciting improvisations.
