3.0 out of 5 stars Techno Pop Gone Bad
I bought this cd after hearing the 9PM(Till I Come) track which is really awesome... the rest of the cd just sounds too much of the same stuff remixed over and over... nothing really new or catchy.. it has a video game soundtrack feel to it... a few good songs(9PM, Don't Stop, Too Much Rain)... a few repetative songs... would be better as background music.. I recommend...

Other reviewers here, have simply said that the tracks on this album are too repetitive and they leave it at that ... I just can't let that go unchallenged. This album gets under your skin and then goes deeper. Yes, it is great dance music, but I have also found that when it is played as background music at my workplace (software developer), it gave me a whole new burst of energy with every 'rhythm build' and 'serenity moment' ! Even if you haven't bought any other dance albums, I suggest you buy this one.. it's in a class of its own.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not living up to its full potential..., August 13, 2000
This review is from: Movin Melodies (Audio CD)
Besides 9PM and Don't Stop, the rest of the album is .... not bad. It *could*, however, be a lot more richly textured and more complex (i.e. something by Paul Van Dyk, who weaves 5-6 diff. melodies and sounds within a track for full aural bliss.) ATB sounds a little elementary and too simplified compared to a true trance album, and i'm not even an expert DJ or full-on trancer/raver! Even newbies to this genre will realize that this cd is "missing" something. It's just not enough. You are left wanting something more complex, more rich.. like you had a plain vanilla ice cream w/o any toppings, cones, or cherry. =( Anyhow, if i had to pick two tracks (besides the 2 singles)that help make me give this album 4 stars, it's SunBurn and Too Much Rain. Overall a listenable cd, but not one that is a masterpiece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Groovin' Movin' Melodies, November 25, 1999
This review is from: Movin Melodies (Audio CD)
André Tanneberger, is the sole mastermind artist which is ATB. This German DJ's previous accomplishments were being the brains behind a project he was involved in during the early 90's called Sequential One and generating many awesome remixes for songs by Future Breeze, U96 and many more. Now with a couple years of experience and creativity, this first album introduces a collection of his music to the world market.

With certain parallels with Robert Miles, this album is still creative in its own unique way. Both consolidate voice, tunes and beats meanwhile incorporating a sense of direction, an aspiration towards hope. On the occasion, Tanneberger throws in sounds of nature to give an interesting mood much like Robert Miles' older work. Although Miles' work has become more Ambient/Dream, ATB's music is still Progressive/Trance and therefore much more embodying and danceable.

With a gentle and calm introduction of guitar, haunting notes, piano and gentle drumming in Track 1 "The First Tones" quickly builds up to the rest of the compact disk of hypnotic dance tunes. Plenty of the enthralling songs are fun and spontaneous such as Track 8 "Don't Stop", some melodies are eerie with like Track 4 "Zwishchenstück", meanwhile others are the combination of the two moods such as Track 3 "Underwater World". Of course there are the unforgettable; the infamous Track 5 "9PM (Till I Come)" which has been blazin' though dance clubs for the past months. A special mention goes out to Track 12, "Beach Vibes by EEF" for is an awesome blend of beats, guitar and sea waves.

The combination of sounds are not to complex or flashy therefore generating an excellent aural candy. Of course, a person being a Progressive or Trance lover, this album is certainly recommended for them. People who like House music, try this hot baby out. As for the other people who get wild on the dance floor or enjoy relaxing to great beat-driven songs, try this CD out if you would like something different.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simply awesome, May 6, 2003
This review is from: Movin Melodies (Audio CD)
I bought this CD yesterday; it is so infectious and groovin'; I simply love it! I listen to a lot of trance/techno and I usually like more vocals; but this album makes up for it with the melodies; melodies that make you move!! It's a great cd for cruising and working out or just chilling too. I'm warning you it will make you MOVE!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars ATB- Movin'Melodies, October 19, 2002
This review is from: Movin Melodies (Audio CD)
Growing up on Rap & Rythm and Blues, I have not listened to alot of Trance. So ATB's "Movin'Melodies" was my introduction to trance. I bought it after I heard the single "9P.M." (Till I come) while cruising in a friends ride. "9P.M." (Till I come) has got a crazy beat, which is addictive. "Underwater World"
and "Too much Rain" (after 3 minutes) also have some wicked beats that transcend you to somewhere peaceful, exotic. "Dont Stop" continues the increased pace, of tracks. Also enjoyed the tracks "Obsession" "Movin Melodies" and "Sunburn". My trance knowledge is limited, but this is by far the best Trance cd I have heard.

4.0 out of 5 stars Soothing Music, November 21, 2001

This CD by ATB is a really great mix of dance and relaxing music. This CD has 2 remixes of two of the slower songs, which really spices it up. The way that ATB presents their music is quite creative. It isn't like everything else that is played on the radio. Their mix of relaxing and dance music really sets it apart from the rest.

1.0 out of 5 stars Derivative cheese trance, May 25, 2001
By
This review is from: Movin Melodies (Audio CD)
Just as the title of this review says, it's derivative - not in any way original.. has a few catchy melodies-very basic melodies.. Good for the masses I suppose.. Definately not for me.. You want real electronic music that still has a moderately "catchy" appeal to it? Check Way Out West, or BT - if you feel you can handle some basic breaks maybe even go for Hybrid (which as their name implies, is a Trance/Breaks/orchestral hybrid). That should whet your appetite a bit. These trance songs are a dime a dozen, equivalent to the pop icons everybody loves (and loves to hate)..

5.0 out of 5 stars Just makes you want to dance, July 3, 2000
By
Wei Zheng (Champaign, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Movin Melodies (Audio CD)
This is a great CD, all the songs on the album except a one or two are awesome. They just want to make you get up and dance. And when I hear one of their songs at a club, it just gets me more excited. Although 9pm is way played out, the remixes are real good, I recommend getting this CD or at least the US version without the bonus remixes. Only thing that would make this album better is if they had the song "It's a Fine Day"

1.0 out of 5 stars electro pop that sucks, April 1, 2000
This review is from: Movin Melodies (Audio CD)
if you like hearing the same synthesizer throughout an entire album, you'll love this one. otherwise, stray from this electropop that could be written by a 5 year old with some computer skills who listens to britney spears.
