In this book Tom Cunningham and his colleague, Stephen Pfleiderer, have attempted to outline the various characteristics of a retirement community and to assist the reader in determining what is the best "fit". It is their aim to be objective and avoid unenthusiastic pronouncements, except where it is appropriate to identify possible downsides that could affect the individual's well being. The reader should know from the beginning, however, that no single retirement community exists that fits the needs, desires, wishes, and expectations of all of us. The choices are there for the reader alone to make. The goal is to help individuals make the best decision for their own personal needs and desires.
