5.0 out of 5 stars More Cowbell, November 22, 2005
This review is from: Moxie Bravo (Audio CD)
My brother saw an article about this band in Bass Player magazine and picked up Moxie Brovo based on it. He let me listen to a few songs which I promptly turned around and bought the CD for myself. We saw them live for the first time at Schuba's in Chicago November 21st and I have to say they know how to rock.

This CD has a great production value. All the songs are very catchy without being poppy. The singer has the kind of voice that makes you want to listen to him tell his story...then sing along when the chorus hits. These songs are well written, though a bit short, they still work. All these songs are straight ahead rock; no extra fluff or studio tricks here.

I highly recommend these guys...sing along with your friends!

More proof the power trio is the only way to go.

5.0 out of 5 stars deep listen, September 27, 2009
This review is from: Moxie Bravo (Audio CD)
There is so much going on in this album. Probably Jim Diamonds finest production job thus far. It crackles like early Who, and swerves between ideas as fast as Gabriel era Genesis. Seeing these guys play these songs live was something I will never forget, insanely inspired, perfectly balanced abstract pop. This may be the best rock band touring today.

5.0 out of 5 stars "once in a dream", February 20, 2006
This review is from: Moxie Bravo (Audio CD)
My favorite thing about this album is the lyrics. Each song has at least one memorable line, such as, "blows my mind, you held a conversation on your own" from Truce. The story in Seems It's One Thing caught my ear the first time I heard it (live, before the album was released), especially the line "she was granted the McArthur Genius Fellowship". Some lyrics are included in the liner notes (as well as fun drawings). Overall, these songs feature many distinct characters and stories, as well as lessons to be learned, and good music all around.
