4.0 out of 5 stars Great Mozart playing!
Andre Previn may not be a pianist in the same league as the great DeLarrocha, but I am convinced that having him as a second piano partner in these works enticed the aging Larrocha to play with much more energy than she does on her other RCA Mozart sonata and concerto recordings. I've found those to be surprisingly dull in terms of both the performances and the sound...

1.0 out of 5 stars Big Misunderstanding
Not at all what I was led to believe. Somewhere in the promotional blurb I read that this was the theme music from Murder One. If so, they watched a completely different Murder One program than I did.
Extremely disappointing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Mozart playing!, March 8, 2000

This review is from: Mozart: Concerto for Two Pianos; Sonata for Two Pianos, K448 (Audio CD)
Andre Previn may not be a pianist in the same league as the great DeLarrocha, but I am convinced that having him as a second piano partner in these works enticed the aging Larrocha to play with much more energy than she does on her other RCA Mozart sonata and concerto recordings. I've found those to be surprisingly dull in terms of both the performances and the sound.

The basic tempos in both works are just right-not too slow or fast, and the playing itself is quite brilliant. The sound is good, but not quite in the same league as Uchida's Mozart concerto cycle on Phillips. Phillips is really putting its competitors to shame when it comes to the excellence in sound of their classical recordings.

However, being somewhat of an audiophile, I play very close attention to these things, and such concerns may not bother the general listener.

5.0 out of 5 stars De La Rocha and Previn Shine!, November 21, 2009

This review is from: Mozart: Concerto for Two Pianos; Sonata for Two Pianos, K448 (Audio CD)
This version of the Mozart "Concerto and Sonata for Two Pianos" is one you will return to again and again. The pace is exhilarating without getting lost. This is a wonderful performance with which to remember the late, great De Larrocha. Anyone who loves the genre of piano for four hands will really want this recording.

I enjoy this most of the few dual piano selections that I own. I find this recording clear, crisp and well done.
