This selection of concert arias demands much flexibility and Mozart expert Gundula Janowitz at her very best rises to the challenge with glorious singing. Wilfried Boettcher directs the orchestra vividly while The excellent 1966 recording was processed and the sound is very good indeed. This CD righteously appears in Deutsche Grammophon's legendary recordings series. If you are interested in Mozart's concert aries you can well start from here.

Mozart's 'Concert Arias' are any thing but easy to sing.

I am compiling a set of such recordings for high sopranos and soprano. For the high soprano, I have got Rita Streich's, though not Gruberova's.

Janowitz is one of the all time best singers. She has a rich voice that is unique. Her version of the Creation has some moments that will astound you with their power and beauty.
