Superb performances!, March 19, 2001

This apparently underappreciated CD is worth every penny. Gordon Hunt, respected oboist, plays the oboe quartet flawlessly and elegantly, filling his performance with grace and style. Hunt takes the road less-traveled in this piece by not backing off the attack of every note (an often-used tactic for playing Mozart that simply doesn't fit this piece). The Chilingirian String Quartet is fantastic, and makes the music sound effortless. Andrew Marinner is a wonderful performer who makes the clarinet quintet swell with beautiful tone and excellent musicality. This is truly a CD that will bring you pleasure!
