Purchasing the best Il Re Pastore,, May 23, 2011

... and I got my Il Re Pastore for being the best around, but what a surprise: there is also a complete opera, Lucio Silla! This one is live-stage recording and is very lively and vibran. Arias are difficult and we are to believe that castrato was to sing Cecilio when Mozart assigned the castst to actors-singers, but I find that Ann Murray makes close to so called virtuoso. Everybody else is also phenomenal! Orchestra is vivacious and stylish. Though this is opera seria I enjoy every beat, and I found the English libretto, it is engaging to follow through recitatives.
To say about Il Re Pastore; simple perfection!!! Only, I would enjoy more if there is an English libretto elsewhere on the web!
