Simply sublime ...,

I highly recommend this set. I have played the cantata 'Davide Penitante' countless times and love it every time. It is similar to the 'Mass in C Minor' (presented in the MISSAE/REQUIEM volume of the Complete Mozart Edition) but the coloraturas and tenors display more emotion, depth and ability to sustain in 'Davide Penitante'. 'La Betula Liberata' is also awesome but, since written by a younger Mozart, the music is rather remisnescent of his early operas. If you ever wondered what Masonic music is (as I did), each piece is nothing more than a short cantata. This is one my most-played volume out of my complete collection. Buy it; you will not regret it.

I mean, Mozart hit the ground running; the first CDs are by a young Mozart, and they're wonderful; the rest is by a slightly older Mozart, and they're wonderful. I guess you could say I'm a Mozart completist, and I've listened to much of the Master's music, and I don't think he ever produced a stinker.
