Really three-and-a-half stars out of four. Pete Special and Jon Brant work well together. But where is 'Rebel Come Back'?!, June 1, 2006
This review is from: Mozart Street (Audio CD)
Local Chicago talent Pete Special has been
demo-ing cuts for many years. He and Jon
Brant never did get that one disk out years
ago but were on Chicago radio. A girl I know
sent me an audio copy. Great stuff. That was
after the Bun E. Carlos Experience did a
bootleg Live LP with Jon on it. Pete does
real good work on Mozart Street. It's long
overdue. Don't take Offence to the three
star rating here on Amazon, Pete S. fans.
They won't give me half starts. Good stuff,
Pete! Now, where's Pete Comita?!

Local talent at its best., August 2, 1999

Great local band full of high energy entertainment. Although not much of a blues fan at first, loved these guys the first time I heard them. They are a must see if you are in Chicago. Pete has an incredible voice that grabs you from the minute he starts singing and keeps you listening.

Dan Aykroyd Reviews Pete Special, October 20, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Mozart Street (Audio CD)
Pete Special is an originator and professor of the fat, funkified, urban R & B sound that influenced and now spills out from the best regional bar bands in America's great northern music cities: Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Kansas City Missouri. He continues the pedigree which he established with the breakthrough band Big Twist and The Mellow Fellows and is one of the leaders in the new millennium blues movement. Along with Robert Cray, Johnny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Blues Traveller, Sy Klopps Band, Ron Sunshine and Buddy Guy, Pete Special will be laying down the future of the classic American music in the years to come." Pete Special is SPECIAL, September 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Mozart Street (Audio CD)
Pete's distinctive voice and flair for music really makes this cd stand out.I was captivated by his bands sound and their style. Their songs HOLD ON and INSIDE OUT show a playfulness as well as a stylish swagger. Their renditions of LIKE A ROLLING STONE and WHEN SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY BABY make the originals pale by comparison.Petes songs MOZART STREET,THOSE WERE THE DAYS and BREAKING UP SOMEONES HOME bring to mind those days of classic blues with the horn sections and saxaphones. A real delight and joy to listen to I'm definitly sold on this sound and CD.

The musicianship and songs on this CD are exceptional. I have a hard time understannding why an artist like this isn't topping the charts but Spice girls are. It's a sick world.

Another remake Hit!, August 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Mozart Street (Audio CD)
Look Out "When Something is Wrong with my Baby" should be the next duet hit of the year. Someone made a mistake putting "Are We Rockin" on this disk. It would seem Special needed a filler song and found it on the studio floor. He made up for this slip with Cool World and Mozart Street great up beat R&B. The Sleeper is "Hold On" Remember you heard it hear first.!
