A delightful winner for the Borodin Trio, March 9, 2009
This review is from: Mozart: Six Trios for Piano, Violin & Cello (Audio CD)
The Borodin Trio have produced many recordings that have given me countless hours of listening pleasure. This recording of six piano trios by Mozart continues their string of unqualified successes. The digital recording faithfully captures the interplay between piano, violin, and cello, balancing each instrument so that all are clearly heard. The rich string tones blend very nicely with the keyboard.Tempo choices are just right: not so slow as to seem ponderous, but not so fast as to rush past all the delights of the music.
Recently I have also greatly enjoyed listening to the Mozart piano quartet by the Mozartean Players. Their set of the piano trios also seems well-received, and I look forward to acquiring it in the near future to get their take on this music. After all, two outstanding sets of this delightful music will be better than one.
