Excellent Mozart recordings.,

This review is from: Mozart: Eine kleine Nachtmusik; Six German Dances; Les Petits Riens (Audio CD)
Recorded at Queen's Hall, Edinburgh, November 1982 and March 1983. Recorded sound is realistic and nicely-balanced, which says a lot, considering the early era of digital recording it is from. Liner notes consider the works themselves, while information about the conductor and orchestra is left out. This can be found online anyway: Interesting to learn was that the Scottish Chamber Orchestra has no particular home -- they tour about Britain and abroad, probably recording in a variety of locations as well. There is nothing routine-sounding about this recording, and it can be recommended with enthusiasm. I particularly enjoy the 'Eine kliene Nachtmusik', Serenade no. 13 in G major. Enthusiastic playing from the members of the orchestra is refreshing.
