I purchased this because I thought it was going to be an autobiography, of some sort and because it was free. It is a book of quotations by Mozart, mostly concerning letters, to his family and friends but, also drawing on actual spoken words. It is very interesting to me - I am an extreme quote fan. I have however, not located an actual biography of Mozart. Regardless, this is excellent and it happens to be free. If you like quotes, why not give this one a try???

The words, taken from his letters to his father, et al, gave me an insight into the man whom I thought of as a more serious person. I have never believed he was the simple, silly person potrayed in the movie, "Amadeus", although I never doubted the genius described by Salieri.

Many things are said about Mozart. Some say he was a genius. Others say he lived an excentric life. The way I see it he was a great man.
This book reflects that in his own writings. It shows different moods, motivations and concerns.
It helps to perceive that Mozart had a great gift. A gift that was shown in his work and that is his admiration for mankind.
As everything in life, the book shows how his talent was met with hard work to achieve great results in music.
I found this book very easy to read. I feel that it is appropiate to learn Mozart's state of mind.

This is an enjoyable insight into the personal thoughts shared mainly between WAM and his family, primarily his father.
Here can be found much of the fact behind the fiction. Well worth reading.

I can highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the man Mozart as well as his music. It gives a fair insight into the way he processed things and constructed his music. More important though is that it tells us more about the events and feelings of his life from the man himself. Sometimes bringing a deeper insight into his works. Definitely a good read for those who love his music and history lovers that care for more than just the events but the people too.

This is a super source of information that is presented in a digestible manner for readers. Really enjoyed sharing this with my daughter who is very interested in music history.

I received this book as a gift, and I couldn't put it down. Though I've read every page at least 10 times, I still like to look through it. When one is so interested in the life of Mozart, what is a better book to read than one almost completely written by the composer himself?

If you want an understanding of Mozart 's likes and dislikes, of his thoughts about other musicians, his devotion to his religion and his father you will gain much of this insight here. If you are looking for the usual form most autobiographies or diaries are written in you will be sadly disappointed. It is a very boring read.
