This is a great CD for studying and working to. It's all of your favorite songs but done classical style which helps improve on mental abilities. I listen to this while I am at work or studying in my dormroom. The Hampton Quartet really pulls through with this one. 4 stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD if you can find it!, January 30, 2002

This is vintage Hampton String Quartet. Recorded while they were still on RCA, this album shows the group's early potential. To see how they have grown, compare the "Stairway to Heaven" on this CD with the "Stairway to Heaven" on HSQ's independent CD "Sympathy For The Devil". The rock string quartets capture the vitality and energy of rock much better than other attempts by classical musicians. A great CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hampton String Quartet Rocks, March 12, 2011
This review is from: What if Mozart wrote "Born to Be Wild"/ The Hampton String Quartet (Audio CD)
My whole family loves the Hampton String Quartet now, but we found this group by accident. My daughter dances with a large University and the head of the dance program is a graduate of Juilliard. He had owned this CD from the 1980's and was using it for warm ups with the dancers. My daughter fell in love with soothing music but did not know the songs were rock classics. She asked for me to buy the CD and of course I went to Amazon. We now own all of the CDs from the Hampton String Quartet. My daughter studies to the music and I relax to it at home.

I first heard this group on Performance Today, back in the 1990s and fell in love with them. I think that Leroy Anderson would have loved their arrangement of his Sleigh Ride, as well as David Seville aka (Ross Bagdasarian) and the chipmunks.
