5.0 out of 5 stars Just as good as the show!
Being a fan of the Mr. Bean britcom I got this for Christmas. I was really impressed at how well they were done. They got down his mannerisms, and he talks just like in the show (mostly noises and little words here and there). There's the mean old landlady downstairs with her mean old one eyed cat. And as usual, Mr. Bean and Teddy are always getting into trouble. My...

2.0 out of 5 stars Falls flat
Sorry, the animated version of Mr. Bean just doesn't work.

I'll give this series two things in its favor. One is that if you're comparing it to many TV cartoons, it's not too bad - it's competently done, unlike most cartoons on TV today, which are disasters. The other is that, being a cartoon, it avoids the sometimes-risque humor of the real Mr. Bean shows.

But beyond...

And as usual, Mr. Bean and Teddy are always getting into trouble. My favorite episodes are his day of Spring Cleaning and him going on a Treasure Hunt. If you like watching Mr. Bean you will love these. I'm glad I got them, they are a great addition to the show. Lastly, watching him dance as the credits roll by is a kick too!

5.0 out of 5 stars All hail KING BEAN!, May 8, 2004
This review is from: Mr. Bean: The Animated Series - Volumes 1 & 2 (It's Not Easy Being Bean / Bean There, Done That) (DVD)
I , my son, and my wife have viewed the 4 volumes currently on the market.
We LOVE them all. The simple joys that Bean brings to his live action character translate very well into this nicely done, and artfully drawn, cartoon series. Perfectly enjoyable.

But beyond that there's nothing much here. Even my kids just sat and watched without laughing - and after a couple of episodes voted to skip the rest. We're all big Mr. Bean fans, and this just did not fly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two boys' review: Funny cartoons that are family-friendly, July 19, 2008

We have two boys, a 5-year old and a 4-year old. They love these DVDs.

I like them because the absence of dialogue forces our children to figure out the storyline. I also like the fact that the humor is family-friendly and that I don't have to suffer through an hour of "I wants" after a Saturday morning cartoon fest chock full of commercials.

If you have young children, this is a great buy. The individual stories run about 5-8 minutes each, so you can moderate how much they watch without having to commit to a 90-minute Disney movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable in it's Own Right, February 27, 2008
This review is from: Mr. Bean: The Animated Series - Volumes 1 & 2 (It's Not Easy Being Bean / Bean There, Done That) (DVD)
My wife and I bought these animated videos for our nephew, a four year old. He has enjoyed watching the live action series with his mom and often compares Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson) to me... I guess our shared dark complexions and silly demeanor's led him to lump us together.

We're pleased that we did buy this set for him. Over the holidays my nephew and I got to watch several of the episodes together. We laughed as Mr. Bean carried out errands for his mean old landlady, cleaned house, and also did some cat sitting for a silly/scary ill tempered beast.

There were several laugh out loud moments for both of us. The cartoons are quick and humorous. They keep the flavor of the original series but take on the constant fun of any bright cartoon world.

Enjoy these cartoons for what they are. They are not the original series in any way shape or form. But they are definitely worth watching.

At our house, we LOVE Roan Atkinson, and if you do too, this animated series will be a wonderful addition to your family DVD collection. Each episode is like a small encapsulation of one of the 'Mr. Bean' movies.

I really like that Atkinson's physical, slap stick humor and vocalizations are so well portrayed in this animated series. It is difficult to stay in a bad mood after watching an episode or two of 'Mr. Bean The Animated Series'. Light and fun, Mr. Bean is a one-man, rubber faced and croaky voiced version of the three stooges!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mr. Bean is great, November 18, 2008
This review is from: Mr. Bean: The Animated Series - Volumes 1 & 2 (It's Not Easy Being Bean / Bean There, Done That) (DVD)
I bought the complete cartoon series for my kids after having seen the story with the fly in his bedroom, on tv. I didnt expect to enjoy the cartoon that much. When I got them, I couldnt stop watching. amazing!!! I admired how they could really transform the real mr. bean in cartoons, his mimics, his way of moving around, or driving around... the stories are hilarious, not too long, and cool. not only for kids, but for adults too. have a nice good laugh
