I have tried several of the Mr Beer Brew kits that come with one can of malt and a package of "booster" and was very disappointed. These kits result in a watery fizzy brew that won't retain a head.

I happen to like IPA and decided to try the American Devil IPA. This kit uses 2 cans of malt extract and no "booster". I must say I was pleasantly surprised. This beer has a decidedly malty flavor with hoppy bitterness. Head retention is very good.

I plan to order more of these kits.

If you don't like a bitter beer this is not for you but if you like a a hoppy bitter brew it is highly recommended.

I plan to try some of Mr Beer's other all malt kits but no more "booster" brews for me.

In my opinion, this is one of the best premium brews that Mr. Beer offers. I have found though, that it is better if you allow the beer to ferment for a full 3 weeks before bottling. The finished product is much smoother and not overly carbinated after conditioning for another 2 weeks minimum. It takes a little longer, but it is worth the wait.

It compared favorably with other IPA's I've had. It's loaded with hops bitterness, a little too much for me, but if you like IPA's and brewing with Mr. Beer, this is right up your alley.

Beware that this product comes with one can of beer mix, and one package of booster. The picture shows two cans. Amazon was great about correcting this for me, but it looks like the wrong picture is still online.

My 7th flavor of the Mr Beer line, and by far the best. I like hoppy India Pale Ales and this one is incredible. Dark golden color, crisp and dry, no aftertaste. Most MB beers all have the same slight metallic 'artificial' taste. I've gone to actual brewing and dont do the MB thing anymore except this one. Its that good.

I purchased this item recently and it comes with two cans of HME, not one, and two packets of yeast. I can't wait to try it - it is fermenting now.

I was disappointed in the way this refill turned out. I purchased two (2) of these refills, so I'm fairly sure i did not just brew a bad batch. It's not that it is flat. It just has no taste. Would not recommend.

This is one of my favorite refills from Mr. Beer. I have brewed this straight up and adding steeping grains and DME and both times it is awesome!

Easy to brew, good tasting beer. I bought some additional hops so I could add it during the boil in order to give the beer a nicer finish and I would highly recommend it. All in all, this kit is simple and helps cut down on brew time but it does give you less flexibility on ingredients.

This was actually only my second attempt at a Mr Beer brew (having my only previous home brewing experience consist of helping friends with their more advanced setups) and I must say that myself and those who have tried this beer have been pleasantly surprised.

In addition to this standard recipe I decided to boil an additional can of UHME I had from the West Coast Pale Ale recipe pack with added hops from local home brewing supply store in the boil and for dry hopping in the keg for that extra bitterness, aroma, and flavor. I also threw in some dried lemon peel for even more lovely aroma.

I have already had requests to brew this one again so I'm excited to play around with different hop varieties and see what I can come up with.
