I generally prefer stronger, darker beers, but I enjoy this as a nice alternative and it's been met with near universal praise even among my friends who only drink flavorless, yellow macros.

At bottling it smells of banananas an citrus. After carbonating and conditioning, it tastes like a clean, quality wheat beer with a hint of oranges. I've made this refill, sometimes adding a little honey, several times and I'll continue to keep in my brewing rotation.

This is one of the better Mr. Beer refills. New Mr. Beer brewers might want to start with a basic brew, but none of the Mr. Beer brews are difficult to make. Witty Monk (along with American Devil IPA) is one of the most popular and tasty Mr. Beer refill packs.

As for the reviewer that mentioned a broken bag of one step cleaner. This seems to be an issue with Mr. Beer. I have seen alot on the internet, specifically the Mr Beer website, where other people have had similar problems. Mr. Beer needs to do something about their shipping department to address this issue. Personally, I have ordered directly from Mr. Beer without any issues, but it seems ripped booster and one step bags and dented cans are common. This BY NO MEANS diminishes the quality of the Mr. Beer products. These guys produce top-quality beer mixes and make homebrewing easy for the beginner.

well i got this about 2 mths ago so ive brewed it and its ready tryed one the other weekend. Dare i say the best beer ive had? it had a wonderful head to it the first glass i actuly had 3/4 full cause i poored it wrong but the head has a flavor hint of orange. the beer itself is smooth going down and verry tasful i enjoyed it alot how ever i dont drink often and this was like well worth the money no idea how much a good beer from the store cost's like this but overall verry smooth and great taste way better than expected.

The Witty Monk is in my opinion the best Mr. Beer refill available. Tastes similar to a Blue Moon. It's smart to buy 4 at once since you get one free with Amazon.

I've brewed dozens of kegs of Mr Beer kits and have to say, I always come back to the Witty Monk Belgium Witbier. Kinda like a Hefeweitzen, but with the clarity of a Kolsch. mmmmm....beer! But beer is much better tasting is you make it yourself! I have about 2 dozen bottles still in my beer fridge...looks like its about time for another keg!

I all grain brew. Sometimes, I don't have time to mash though, but I want to keep the pipeline stocked up, or am preparing for a gathering that might need an alternative.

I think these kits are a great value, and could not be easier to augment or replace nearly anyone's commercial beer drinking.

TIP: When bottling, use 2L coke bottles. You are done in a jiffy, and you can recap and enjoy the beer days later, it will be fine.

This is a great Mr. Beer product. That being said lets get to this particular pack, the Witty Monk. It's tasty. I really liked it. It's basically a Blue Moon clone. You will have a coriander, citrus taste/aroma to it. But for whatever reason it tastes so much better than Blue Moon. Maybe I'm a little bias as I'm brewing it myself. But I did actually taste test it with Blue Moon, as I had a bottle of it in my fridge as well. It's great. Smoother is the only way to describe it.

I've only been homebrewing for about 6 months. I've really only been doing extracts and using Mr. Beer primarily. Keep in mind I'm not a hop head. I like stouts and malty beers. I like the aromas and flavor from hops but not the bitter flavor. Wanted to give you a reference point for my personal tastes and experience. I'm planning on making another batch soon. If you look on the Mr. Beer forum, you'll see many people like the Witty Monk pack.

Now to a different point...are you are brewing the beer correctly? As long as you are patient and wait longer than the recommended times. You'll end up with great beer. You really need to ferment for 2 weeks at least, carb for 2 and then condition for 2 more weeks for a total of 6 weeks at minimum. Conditioning it longer is also a good idea. I condition at least 4 weeks if not more. I'm sure it's for marketing that they say beer in as little as 2 weeks. But NO beer product will be good in two weeks regardless of who or what you are buying. It just takes time to make good beer. If you have questions or concerns about brewing look up various homebrewing forums online. Most people end up disappointed with the beer because they "messed" up making it. It wasn't actually the beer itself. That being said, Mr. Beer's standard recipes are only ok since it's their cheaper introductory beers (one can of malt and one packet of booster). Aside from personal tastes as long as you get the premium or deluxe Mr. Beer products (two can of malt) you won't be disappointed.

I have brewed two batches of this kit now, one as directed and one with 1/2 cup of honey added. If you make the kit as directed, you will have a very smooth, citrus flavored wheat beer similar to hefeweizen after 4 weeks. Over the next couple weeks it mellows and becomes more like a belgian wheat like Blue Moon. I really enjoyed it with honey, it added more body and a nice sweetness that made it more refreshing IMO. I have since moved on to using unhopped malt extracts, but I may keep some of these kits around so I can periodically restock with wheat beer for my allergic to barley brother in law.

I gave this to my fiance as a gift, and he enjoyed drinking the beer, but the cleanser bag was ripped and spilling, and I couldn't get through to the company to switch, so we makeshift used something else...that left me feeling flat about it.
