More or less works,

This review is from: Mr. Clean AutoDry Pro Series Kit (Automotive)
I'm pretty picky about how my car looks after a wash. So take this with a grain of that salt. Generally I hose the car off, go over it with a bucket of soapy water and a mitt, rinse, and then towel it off with two towels (keeping one as dry as I can to get the spots off.)
Yes, Mr. Clean AutoWash does more or less as what it says it does - you can skip the toweling dry. But there are a few spots here and there, and, unless you also wash the windows with windex, after a few days a white filmy scum develops on the windows (I presume it's on the car too but you don't notice it as much.) In terms of what's involved in washing the car, you still have to go over it with the soapy mitt and scrub off any bugs and droppings and get at the wheel covers, and that's the hardest part anyway. So I didn't find it took me all that much less time to wash the car in the end. Stack that against the cost of refills for the special soap and the filter and the extra step of having to spray it down with filtered water, and I don't think it's really worth it. That said, if you have fairly limited expectations for a car wash you do yourself (you aren't willing to settle for water spots, but you don't care if its absolutely perfect) then this might save you a little time.

Not perfect, but saves a little bit of time.,

I have washed a couple of cars with this kit. Here I will summarize the negatives and positives of this product.
POSITIVES: 1) It saves time in the sense that you have the water and soap right there at the end of the hose at the twist of a knob. 2) It really does leave the MAJORITY of the car spot free. 3) It also saves time you take to dry the car as it's magic de-ionized spray removes MOST of the water spots. NEGATIVES: 1) You still have to wash the car manually by hand. 2) Even with the special spray, you will leave the car with a few spots, mostly on windows and mirrors (esp. side view mirrors). 3) You have to continually pay for the special soap and special filter. OVERALL: 1) It's a nice compromise between completely washing your car by hand and getting it professionally washed. 2) Even with the soap and refill it's still a lot cheaper than bringing it in to a car wash. 3) And it does save you time with the soaping and the drying. 4) However, if you need your car completely perfect, then this isn't the kit for you.

Works great!!!,

I purchased one of these when they first came out and I think I've been using my current version for over 2 years with very few problems. Works as advertised, soap, scrub, rinse and no messing with towel drying. I use this product on an auto, truck and 3 of my motorcycles without one bit of problem. There is only one minor gripe I can give the Mr. Clean AutoDry system, the rubber closure for the soap port is terrible, it never seals properly and if you store it upright, you may have soap running down the side. Not sure why they decided to put this soap port on the side like this. But other than that one gripe, this is an excellent product. If you want to cut some time out of your car cleaning, buy it.

Disappointed in the power/ "magic Dry," but otherwise practical.,

If you live in a low water pressure area, stay away... Chicago is known for its vast supply of clean drinking water, and i have no problem taking a pressure cooker shower, but i still had trouble getting this thing to crank like they'd make you think it would. It still needs you to towel the car, etc as you would with any other method... though its almost as if they have you think you WONT have to have any towel or own anything BUT this autodry system gadget. It works, there arent streaks, just be aware you aren't gonna walk around your car with this 4 times (rinse, soap, rinse, autodry) and then go lounge with a Corona and stare at your car do the rest. The days of car washing are not over, just a BIT more convenient.

It Actually Works!,

I bought the product before reading the reviews, so I did not have high expectations at first. I washed my car in the morning, and left it in the shade to dry. As it was drying it looked as though many spots would form. I was amazed that there were no spots! The drawback is that you still have to do manual scrubbing.

Bought three units, one for my son, one for son-in-law and one for myself. Does all it advertises plus. Significantly faster than a pail, soap and sponge, just spray on the soap, scrub with the provided mitt and rinse. Only negative implication is the proprietary refill kits to keep the water sheeting. Overall we are all very pleased with the product.

As to the effectiveness of the product, I agree with Don's review shown elsewhere.
We recently moved to another state, and the first time away from the wonderful NYC water supply, I washed my car only to find spots and white rings after it dried. (My Mr. Clean Starter Set was lost in the move.) I found that we now have hard water. I ordered the Mr. Clean Pro Wash set, and it cured the problem. The filter is effective at removing the chemicals in the water, and it now washes and dries without spots.

PURCHASED ITEM AS A FATHER'S DAY GIFT & IT WAS A REAL HIT W/MY DAD. HE LOVES HIS NEW TOY, AS IT DOES PRECISELY WHAT IT CLAIMS. PRODUCT IS STURDY, OPERATES AS ADVERTISED, WHILE CARRYING CASE KEEPS COMPONENTS NEATLY ORGANIZED & DRY. SHEETING ACTION CREATES THE AUTO-DRY ASPECT THIS ITEM BOASTS & MAKES THE PRODUCT A JOY TO USE. IF YOU APPRECIATE FUNCTIONAL GADGETS & A CLEAN CAR, THIS MIGHT BE RIGHT UP YOUR ALLEY. OUR EXPERIENCE OF THE PRODUCT HAS BEEN COMPLETELY POSITIVE. HAPPY CAR WASHING.

Godsend for SoCal... but,
This review is from: Mr. Clean AutoDry Pro Series Kit (Automotive)
This unit works exactly as advertised. The filter removes most of the minerals from the water, so the car dries almost spot-free. I live in Southern CA and our water is really HARD. Washing a car then leaving it to dry results in the car being covered with white spots and sheets. Drying the car with towels prevents the spotting, but leaves a whitish film over the car. You have to wax the car with a cleaner wax to get the film off. With the filtered water, there are very few spots. My only real complaint is that our water is so hard that a "10 use" filter will only last 2 washes, 3 maximum. After that, the filter is full and the car is covered with spots anyway. But that is the fault of our water, not the filter. It's just a shame that it's days are numbered as it is getting harder and harder to find replacement filters. I'll sure miss mine.

DON'T BUY, CAN'T GET REPLACEMENT FILTERS ANYWHERE!!!,

I have been a loyal Mr. Clean Autodry customer for 4 years, loved it but now you have to overpay to get replacement filters and soap. Great product that P&G doesn't support, so you need to go to eBay or Amazon and pay more than we did when it was in Kmart. The current sellers got this product from wholesale liqidators at 10% cost and now you need to pay through the nose to get the stuff you need to make this work.
