5.0 out of 5 stars Very expensive and very effective
There is no getting around it: these are extremely expensive cleaning sponges. I paid $6 for 2 of them; each sponge lasted only about 20 minutes before disintegrating into nearly nothing. However, they are also very effective. They will clean lead pencil and magic marker marks off of white walls. They cleaned dark scuff marks off our bathroom floors. They cleaned...

They cleaned food/juice stains off our kitchen cabinets, stains that no other spray-on cleanser or sponge could remove. If you have a difficult stain on one of your walls, floors, or cabinets, chances are that the Magic Eraser will either remove the stain or lessen the severity of the stain to the point you barely notice it. It also worked on cleaning mildew stains off our bathroom ceiling - truly amazing, since not even a bleach solution did that. I will say that if you use them on a non-semi-gloss paint, the paint can fade a bit. The Magic Eraser work best on semi-gloss or gloss painted walls/cabinets. Because they are so expensive, I would recommend them only for tough stains. Once you experience how well these clean, you probably will fork out more money to use them again and again - nothing else works quite as well. They do not smell at all - no weird chemical odor, no weird fragrance. They are bright white sponges and do not produce any bubbles in use. Simply add a little water and a tiny bit of elbow grease and stains just go away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clean your IRON!, February 28, 2011
This review is from: Mr. Clean Erase and Renew Magic Eraser, Original, 2-Count (Health and Beauty)
In additon to all the great things this little cleaning pad can do, it will do an amazingly good job of cleaning your iron. Just get the Magic Eraser wet and wring out most of the water. Put a few paper towels or regular towel on a table and put the Magic Eraser on top. Now just iron over the Magic Eraser with your iron set to it's hottest setting. That's it. Your iron should be clean.

So get out that gunky iron that you thought was ruined and try this. It WILL work!

Saw them for a low price at Home Depot, so decided the price was good enough to try them. 4 for 3.47. I'm a believer! I was going all over removing stains I thought wouldn't come out - from the stainless steel marks on the painted wall from the trash can lid to the stuck on burnt on spots on the gas stove, even bug guts on the flat paint wall that only smeared when we tried to clean them. I also got lime of a stainless dish drainer. A lot with one sponge before it was so dirty I didn't want to use it any more and it would no longer rinse out. So glad I bought the 4 pack instead of the 1 sample for .99.

...well that and a little elbow grease. I agree w/ another reviewer: a MUST HAVE for any household with kids! My 1-year old has been getting into his big sister's markers, and drawing over walls and our hardwood floors. I have have been trying to get the marks out with "Goof Off 2", which does work...to a certain extent; the "Goof Off 2" will still leave a trace of the marker stain on the floor, even after me rubbing it to death for 30 minutes, and getting naseaus off of the fumes. Then today I *magically* found one (my last) Magic Eraser under the sink, and decided to give it a try. It takes some effort, by MAN it took the stains completely off!! I am so impressed, and love this thing. Yes, it does shrink very quickly, but it's not for everyday use. It really is for those really stubborn stains and marks that just can't be cleaned with other products as effectively. I'm ordering more!

FYI: I cleaned about four or five small areas around my house (hardwood floors, walls, etc.), which took about 5 - 10 minutes, and consumed about 20% of the eraser. So, with my estimation (of course will vary depending on the type of mess), one sponge may last about 30 - 45 minutes of cleaning.

5.0 out of 5 stars It works!, April 16, 2011
This review is from: Mr. Clean Erase and Renew Magic Eraser, Original, 2-Count (Health and Beauty)
I bought this product on a whim at Walmart hoping that it would remove permanent marker from a counter top and crayon from the tile around our fireplace. It removed them within seconds! I also used it to clean some of my white baseboards in the house and it shined them up really nicely. The only bummer is they don't last long. I was so amazed by their effectiveness though, I am sure to buy more next time I'm out!

I've bought this for cleaning my 13'' black macbook, as it was recommended on the web. A bit skeptical at first but after following the instructions, and cleaning the case throughly it did remove fingertips, light scratches, dust, oil, and who knows what else, the other certified cleaners didn't.

I'm satisfied and glad I bought this...

We have tried almost everything we could think of to remove the pencil makrs on the walls.. when our friend suggested this, we were skeptical, thought it might be one of the "As seen on TV" items which works magically only on TV..

But we were in for a sweet surprise... we didnt have to put much pressure to rub on the marks, its a great product for homes with kids who still scribble on walls.

5.0 out of 5 stars These things are magic and they are *not* sponges, February 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mr. Clean Erase and Renew Magic Eraser, Original, 2-Count (Health and Beauty)
I learned about these from the supervisor of a moving company when he stopped by to remove some scuff marks he crew left on my walls. The walls were newly painted and I thought he was going to have to repaint some of the because of the damage. Boy, was I wrong. He wipped out his Magic Eraser and in a few minutes the walls looked as good as new!

These things plus a little water can do wonders for removing scuff marks, pencil marks, and all manner of blemishes from walls and woodwork. However, you should consider them consumable, just as you would with soap or detergent when used to clean the same things. (However, soap and detergent will probably not be anywhere near as effective.)

So, if you plan on scrubbing pans or bathtubs then use a sponge. If you want to remove marks from places where detergents, soaps, and other chemicals are ineffective then this may be your answer.
