I bought this little gem out of frustration with another coffee maker I had recently purchased. The one I was replacing was a 12 cup auto model from Black & Decker which turned out to be unusable due to the poor design of its coffee carafe. It was nearly impossible to poor water or coffee without spillage and constantly having to mop up after ever pour. The B&D carafe had a nearly flat pour spout that I think any first year student in appliance design would know would not work well in the real world. My new Mr. Coffee is well designed and the carafe works well...no spills and the overall appearance of the unit is pleasing. Its small and compact, fits easily under the counter and may even allow for full access to its reservoir and coffee basket without moving it to another position. It makes a good cup of coffee in average time, has a pause and serve and an auto 2 hours shut off on the heat pad. It's price is fair. Its a much better deal than the Black and Decker.....which now sits in a box in the basement awaiting the next yard sale.

I have never reviewed an item before here on Amazon, but after reading reviews for a flat screen tv, cordless vacuum and now a coffee maker(all that I have now purchased opposed to the majority of the what the reviews told me) I felt I just needed to offer up some better review help for others than what I was reading. I started to ignore many people's reviews, after all, I wouldn't be surprised if some of these people had a difficult time opening the box the product came in.
Pros-
1.The cost of the coffee maker was $18.88. That is a great price for a 12 cup coffee maker(60 ounces=12 cups of coffee).
2. It is programmable, I woke up today and the coffee fairy had made me coffee. There is was! All ready to drink. I just had to load it up the night before.
3. If you can read, the directions are simple.
4. Easy to pour out water and coffee, unless you stand on one foot and like to jump, like it seems some people might be doing.
5. It is very quiet, and quick(3 min. for 4 cups), doesn't wake people up.
6. Easy to disassemble/assemble and clean.

Cons-
None

Buy the coffee maker, it's well worth it.

I grabbed this at a discount, thinking I couldn't go wrong with Mr. Coffee; I've been happy with every one I've ever owned. Now I'm just waiting for it to break so I can purchase something that I don't have to think about when I use it. I'll bet you a nickle the plastic pegs holding the basket snap off just out of warranty.

Pros: Makes good coffee! Looks nice. Takes up an average amount of counter space. Doesn't take too long to brew. The 2-hour auto shut-off is a necessary safety feature (but please don't leave your burner on for two hours! Yuck!).

Cons:
1. The Filter Basket
When you first open your new Mr. Coffee and try to remove the filter basket to wash it don't panic. It really does come off. Push down on the base with your forefinger and use your thumb to lift up on the basket to pop the bottom peg from its hole (right-handers). Next, gently rock the basket back and forth, putting mild downward pressure on it to pop out the top peg. It will loosen up in a week and be easier to remove/replace. I suspect it will also break fairly quickly.

2. The Filter Basket - again
When you close the filter basket it doesn't "click" into place, so be very sure it's actually closed or you'll have a mess. The pause n' pour option ridiculously pops the basket open. Close it before your counter floods!

3. Pause n' Pour - Works great except that it drips on the burner (but don't they all just a bit?) and it opens the basket.

4. The Dribble-Splash Pot
Stupid, stupid, stupid. Pouring your coffee should be a delight, not a chore. You must lift the lid with your thumb to pour, and then pour Very Slowly. Very. Very. Slowly. Make sure that the spout is perfectly vertically aligned to the receptacle.

This gets 4 stars because the coffee it brews is a nice cup - not bitter. I purchased another coffee maker based on color to match my kitchen and it makes a horrible cup of coffee - very bitter....
I got this on a lightning deal otherwise it would not be a good price - I paid 17.99 and at BestBuy it was 14.99! I missed that deal. The 14.99 fits better for what this coffee maker is.
It is VERY thin plastic compared to an old Mr. Coffee 4 cup we have been using until we could get a replacement.
The "brew basket" is just that - it is a swing out basket that does not remove. So be prepared to lift the soggy filter out and hope it does not drip as you take it to the compost or trash.
There really isn't much to say about it - it is a very basic maker - made like most cheap coffee makers - but the resulting coffee does taste good :-)
EDIT - let me add since i was corrected... the basket IS "removable" I should have stated it isn't one of the lift out ones - so technically it removes...IF you can get it out without breaking it

An important feature to me was the ability to open the lid to the water tank without having to pull it out from under the kitchen counter. The reason is I like to keep the lid open for some time after I'm done using the coffee maker so the tank will dry and help prevent the build up of mold. This appears to be the only coffee maker on the market built like that anymore.

On the negative side, pushing the button to turn the coffee maker off, turns on the timer. You need to push the button twice to turn it off - who designed that. Yes, the basket is slightly tricky to remove, but it's really no big deal. The coffee pot does drip on the first cup or two. I'm not sure why it's so difficult to design a pot that doesn't drip when you pour a cup, but every coffee maker I've had for 30 years does that. I simply pour my cup over the kitchen sink.

It has all the features I wanted for a good price. I liked it well enough I bought a second as a backup since this design is so difficult to find.
